Splinterlands has shifted to a 2 week release schedule.
Next update is on April the 5-th.

Here's a quick rundown of the release notes. Mind you they did cover their bottoms by stating not everything on this list will be present at the update but it will eventually find it's way to the live game. Anyways, I like new stuff, new is better right ? Well, not always but given the teams track record, yes newеr is better! I'm only going to share what's interesting to me, so if you want to read the full article with all the possible changes coming up - read the source post. I'm going to be quoting here, paraphrasing there and adding a comment on occasion so bare with me and let's get on with the show.

  • They've changed the brawl battle mechanics in a way that you won't get stuck once the timer ends. - Been there, done that - Thank you!!!

    • The Splinterlands shop will get an updated "Special" tab to display information about the final phase of selling off the rest of the Waka Spiritblade promotion cards - Not that excited about a card not many people can afford which ain't that great either. I still like it but not "Here's 1500$, give me the card kind of like it"
  • Fixed a rare issue where a player will match against himself.
  • Fixed the Champion Leaderboard Display issue, where the numbers of the high rank players can be seen. - Strange, I haven't encountered this issue ... Oh yea, still at Gold 3's doorstep.
  • "In an initial effort to lessen the effectiveness of data scraping tools and automated and win trading, we plan on changing the information displayed on the “Enemy Found” screen." - So basically hide the opponents name and just show his previous matches ? Cool.

    • Fixed an issue where if you have multiple copies of one card instead of using a different card each battle and putting it on cooldown so you cant rent it out it will select the most recently used card. -Ok ... can you please give me a choice if I can use a low level gold foil instead of a high level regular foil ? Otherwise I like that, not putting my entire pelacor collection on a 24 hour rent cooldown is good in my book.
  • "Players will now be notified of a battle victory if a player's opponent does not queue for their tournament battle before the battle selection timer runs out." - Good quality of life improvement right there. Still haven't participated in a tournament thou.

    • "Updates will be made to the UI on the Spellbook Purchase page to clarify wording with regards to the Bronze II requirement for earning DEC" The UI text does a better job explaining that you finally can earn DEC and season rewards and everything that comes with it. - I've always considered not purchasing the Spellbook the "trial without an end period" The sooner you get the spellbook - the better.
    • Splinterlands will be integrated Coinbase Wallet log in so you can log in Splinterlands with it. Now hold on. SPS is still not listed on Coinbase but one could hope. Anyways this sounds like they are just increasing the chance for a none Splinterlands player BUT a Coinbase wallet owner to be more inclined to give the game a chance since the access would be easier. Hive Keychain ain't a picknick to set up in the beginning for a noobie.

  • To add to the previous point they've also "added a text that explains the username requirements to the new user and stipulates that the username can't start with a number and In an attempt to protect new crypto users from accidentally entering their contract addresses instead of their own address in the linked wallets, which could lead to a loss of funds, we will no longer allow contract addresses to be entered into linked wallets." - All good stuff. The easier it is to onboard new people and teach them from the beginning how to be safe, the more that will help with word of mouth. This promotes organic growth, me likey!

Alright that's all , let me know in the comments bellow what upcoming change has caught your interest. Talk to you guys soon!

I still don't understand what logging in to coinbase will do for me. I do have a coinbase account though so if they make a way for me to easily transfer SPS/DEC it there and swap to USDT/ETH and back that'd be cool with me.

I think it can be interpreted in a few ways. One would be "Build it and they will come". This could also swing the scales at a Coinbase listing in the future. Like a cheeky way - "the wallet integration part already exists, why not go all the way and list us at Coinbase?". Until something really good that gives a mesurable advantage comes along I'll keep to the Hive Keychain.
