Why I sold my Gold foil Djinn Oshannus?

Waaaait, let me explain!!!

A few weeks ago I got a gold foil Djinn Oshannus. I was over the moon. I used to joke with a friend about that one of us would pull it from a chest. Never in my wildest dreams would have I believed that I'd actually get one. I was over the moon, doing summer salts and knocking over a vase of flowers in the process(nothing broken, crisis averted with a bit of moping off water). After a few days and many enjoyable battles with him in silver 1/gold 3 where I was able to enjoy his phase ability I came to a realisation. I can't keep him.

If I want to keep growing my collection with limited funds I had to take advantage of my luck. So I sold him.
Here's what I bought with the funds to improve my deck.

Got a regular foil level 2 Djinn Oshannus.(I'm not that crazy, I love this card)

Level 2 River Hellondale for both the ressurect and inspire abilities. Can't even begin to describe how excited I am for this card. It compliments the water splinter so well with the inspire and the resurrect is a nice ace up the sleeve. This of course IF the Merdaali Guardian can heal him immediately after being resurrected in case the next attack is magic. Level 2 is his sweet spot.

Upgraded my Flying squid from level 3 to level 6 to get the blind ability.

Upgraded the Deeplurker from level 3 to level 6 to get the poison ability.

Got a level 5 Merdaali Guiardian for the repair ability.

Upgraded a lvl 2 Djin Chwala to lvl 4 to get the Enrage ability.

Upgraded a lvl 2 Twilight basilisk to lvl 5 to get the Stun ability.

Aaaand the funds from the sale ran out. I'm down about 7000 collection power but my deck diversity and actual strength is better for it.

Some might argue that I should have maxed out the Deeplurker and Flying squid and the other common/rare/epic/cheaper cards to level 8,6 and 5 to maximise their use in Gold league. To that I say - yes, but if I did I wouldn't be able to get those other cards to key power levels from which a budget deck would benefit much more.

Now I know I'm very lucky and not everyone will get the same opportunity, but please consider if you get the chance and you have gaps in your deck - would it not be better to sell the card and improve your deck? Let me know in the comments bellow what would you buy in a similar situation.

Until next time - good luck with your chest/pack drops!

Recently I pulled a Gold Foil Queen Mycelia and have considered doing the same but maybe I will hold out until the Legendary summoners drop. Great post!

Thanks, my train of thought was - there is still 68% to be printed, price is first going to go down before it goes up so might as well make the best of it instead of wait there and sit pretty while slowly depreciating, I really like Queen Mic, her "out of print" will be sooner but maybe with similar price trajectories. I don't know, NFA. :)

Awesome. Better to have many good cards than just one great one.

Last time i improved my monsters like this i forget to get the high level summoner. I had to wait and upgrade my summoner xD

Smart move😎

Thank you.
