The Dragon in Spiky Armor (Djinn Chwala)

I will admit that I overlooked Djinn Chwala at first. I began to see the potential of the card when a friend mentioned how helpful her thorns ability was in Bronze league. Very few cards have the thorns ability, and most that do only get it at a high level. Djinn chwala is the only card with thorns in the Bronze League, not counting Mylor.

The Abilities

Djinn Chwala gets upto three abilities; Thorns, Enrage, and True Strike. Thorns is an excellent ability for any frontline tank, especially in lower leagues.

The Enrage ability will allow Chwala to go upto 5 damage at level four and 6 damage on the last two. If struck by a melee monster, Chwala may do upwards of 7 damage or more per turn.

True Strike isn’t the most versatile ability since Chwala has a moderate speed of 3 at max level and Enrage to further boost it. It definitely doesn’t hurt and can come in clutch for those pesky high speed compositions.

Viability

Whether you need a front line tank to lead the charge or a vanguard at the back to absorb sneak attacks, Chwala is a good fit. Her Thorns ability and decently sizable shield make her a hassle to deal with no matter where she is placed.

Even if you have a better front line, like my favorite Chain Golem, Chwala can sometimes cause sneak units to die or at least prevent valuable ranges from falling if placed at the back.

Because Chwala falls under the dragon Splinter, she may be used with all other Splinters that are allowed in the match. I find she is paired well with many starter spellbook cards of different colors.

Availability

Djinn Chwala is one of the most recent reward cards and only a relatively small amount has been printed. Looking at Splinterstats, about 10% have printed, so there is plenty of time to still snag one from a rewards chest.

If you don’t want to wait, Chwala is generally less than $5.00, and is one of the cheapest Epic cards you could purchase. This also means its comparatively easier to level her up, than many other epics.

If you don't want to commit to a purchase, Chwala is very cheap to rent and can usually be found for less than 1 DEC a day. Who can’t spare 1 DEC to try out a potentially useful card?

Nice write up @besfriend. I also like the Djinn Chwala, I only have a level one but she is still useful.
