For our battle mage secrets this week, we have the wands out ruleset which allows only magic monsters to be played. Naturally, this makes certain summoners and magic monsters very powerful as well as strategies to go along with it. We will focus on some wild format strategies highlighting some older cards that are must plays in this format in my opinion. Strategies:
1: Silence galore: One play I like to use is an uber silence play with two different colors. Green can go Immortalis with the mushroom seer along with the goblin psychic to cripple your opponent even if they play a plus one magic summoner. Death can also do this with thaddeus and the phantom soldier. Generally if your opponent cannot do damage to you, it is a good strategy to use.
2. Amplify and Magic Reflect: General rathe is so good in this ruleset as you can play him with the prismatic energy and make all your opponents hurt alot. He is also great in that you have the void armor so any magic reflect does not really hurt your monsters on the way back.
3. Bombs Away: When all else fails, bring the wands out and fire away. This is naturally countered by the above strategies but if you know some colors like green and death are not available you can bring out the alric or delwyn to knock out your opponent.
Round 1
High mana magic only ruleset with water, earth, and dragon available. The high mana was the reason I went with delwyn however the lost legendaries made it pretty much useless as I only used water and neutral cards. My opponent went with selena playing the all powerful quorra and then some small high damage monsters in the backline. In round 1, my high speed was really the difference as his quorra goes down before even firing once. The prismatic is doing work and really made a difference dealing with his backline and their low health.
Round 2
Obviously, it is all over for the game in round 2. Fast high damage monsters eliminate my opponent quickly.
No silence play here was big as that would have been an issue for me. High damage and speed can be very important when you know what kind of damage is coming which was my strategy here.
