I made a tier list of the Chaos Legion soulbound rewards cards a while back (not long after they were released) but I have since then had much more time to test every card in this set, so it was about time to do a new post with my latest ratings.

CL SB Rewards: Summoners

- A Tier: In my opinion none of the CL SB rewards summoners are quite S Tier, largely because they (a) cost 6 mana, and (b) have mediocre extra attributes. However, due to their ability to summon Gladiators, 2 of them are currently A Tier, and that's Helios and Lobb. Helios is the better of the two as she's Dragon, enabling her to pick any Splinter, while Lobb is there because of the likes of Quora and Katrelba.

  • B Tier: Franz is B tier as his secondary ability is weaker than Helios's and Lobb's speed modifiers, however he gives access to very powerful gladiators like Helmet.
  • C Tier: The next 3 just have fairly weak buffs/debuffs and access to weaker Gladiators. If you have MAXED gladiators these may go up a tier, but otherwise I'd stick them at C as you'll often have better summoner options.

CL SB Rewards: Legendary Units

- S Tier: Iziar is the absolute BEAST of this set. She's the best card in the set and frankly one of the best in the game. The Martyr/Taunt combo alone is fantastic, but in addition to that Iziar is highly durable with tons of health and Void, and even has a decent punch with 3 magic damage. The next two are there for their 3-magic Weapons Training, which is incredibly powerful in the current meta. Skok slightly edges out Aves as he's slightly more durable and can revive a unit. Aves is also good, and particularly interesting at Gold league (level 3) where he already has 3 magic damage. Drybone Raider is a real unit with the dual attack double strike (4 hits each turn!), and the shatter/cripple combo is fantastic as well. Kulu Mastermind packs a massive punch (5 damage) and his weapons training is great too, although less versatile than magic WT.

  • A Tier: Musa Saline is terrific at 3 mana with Scavenger and 2 damage. Usut is amazing when he gets going but takes a little bit; he synergizes really well with Lorkus however. If you can get 1 martyr on him and get him going under Lorkus with Life Leech, he can take over. Note also the Oppress which is great against Grimbardun Smith.
  • B Tier: Sorriel's 3-magic attack and double strike is awesome, but he's slow and squishy so vulnerable to dying before he gets going. Good under Lorkus. Ferexian Hero's nice with the WT/Reflection Shield combo but also a bit slow and kind of forced to position 2. Ava's there solely for the WT but occasionally Oppress can help in Tofu vs. Tofu teams with Grim Smith at the front.
  • C Tier: Berix is too expensive for what he brings and there are often better options if you want ranged WT (Ava, Dalthin, Zyriel).
  • D/F Tier: I've actually managed to use this guy successfully in Bronze/Silver tournaments but have never found a use for him in Champion. Not even in Reverse Speed, where there are just tons of other good options in Earth.

CL SB Rewards: Epic Units

- S Tier: Clockwork Aide leads the Epic pack due to it's massive versatility (neutral 4-mana) coupled with 3 individually fantastic abilities. Will-O-Wisp is also packed with useful abilities. Both are also terrific under Weapons Training, though Clockwork Aide can be a bit risky there as it's slow (so not great for ranged) and has low health (so risky with magic as it can kill itself in Magic Reflect).

  • A Tier: Iidri is my top ranked A Tier Epic in this set. Her Taunt synergizes really well with her other three abilities, and she's also fast and durable for 6 mana. Noa's also great, and gets a boost at max level with the Martyr, but his value extends beyond "just dying" like other Martyr cards. He's just a tiny bit too expensive if the goal is for him to die, and his health is a bit too high to get him easily targeted by Opportunity, which is why some other Martyr cards are S Tier while he's in the A Tier. Kra'ar Xoc is fantastic at 1 mana with Scavenger, and Redemption is a nice little bonus.
  • B Tier: No Epic cards in the B Tier.
  • C Tier: Thane is a bit expensive for his kit, and his stats don't synergize super well. Headwinds especially feels random. Evelyn is too slow and also has a bit of a messy kit, thought she can be nice under Rathe, with Aves providing WT.

CL SB Rewards: Rare Units

- S Tier: Venari Marksrat is another meta card in this set. It's the go-to Martyr card, with low enough health to be the target of Opportunity attackers, dying in 2 turns under poison, or a great card to put in position 2 in Snipe rulesets. It can also be used as a Taunt card under Drath. Pair it with revivers like Adelade and you can supercharge adjacent cards.

  • A Tier: Ravenhood Warden's got a great kit at 4 mana. Protect and Inspire works especially well when paired with 2-3 Sneak attackers, like Night Stalker and Uraeus, as you give them a boost and protect them (and the Warden itself) with the Armor buff.
  • B Tier: Madcap's Scattershot/Affliction combo is terrific, and the Life Leech can also be powerful, particularly with Obsidian and even more so in Reverse Speed rulesets. War Pegasus is fast and the Shatter/Demoralize combo is great in no-magic rulesets. The Pyrewatch Devil has good overall stats for 3 mana but is just kind of squishy and the Oppress rarely plays.
  • C Tier: Despite a 3-magic damage Blast, the Riverboat Captain is just too slow and the Affliction/Fury abilities do nothing to its kit to elevate it anywhere above C Tier.

CL SB Rewards: Common Units

- S Tier: Fungus Flinger's an Earth-specific Marksrat. He can be paired with the rat for double Martyr in the right rulesets (e.g. Snipe, sandwiching a melee/charge monster in the middle or a Camouflaged unit), and Blind and Affliction have standalone utility as well. Dumacke Orc is an absolute unit in no-magic rulesets and is also frequently used as a Sneak defender.

  • A Tier: Coastal Sentry's terrific with her big damage and double strike, but she's frail for 10 mana. Swamp Spitter's great in no-magic rulesets, and has been seen to take down some giants. Imperial Knight has a solid overall survivability kit. Wily Coyotian is more wily than he initially appears, with that Phase often coming up clutch for 2 mana. Put a Blind unit in the back to increase his value.
  • B Tier: Ferox Defender is another great no-magic card with a full-on Armor themed kit. Just a bit odd as you'll often find yourself sticking him in the back where he can't attack (to avoid him dying too early). Firecaller's 1 mana too expensive for a card whose primary job is to die, however it has good stats (particularly the attack power). Drybone Barbarian can be terrific in no-magic and works well with Avina's self-heal.
  • C Tier: The puppet's just too frail and rarely gets value from its double strike. The Bomber can be a 1-shot killer, but Recharge is just too much of a liability. If you pair him with Drath though, he goes up to 4 base damage (meaning 12 damage dealt per hit, and 24 to taunt units), which also avoid Forcefield...! Can be good fun.
  • D/F Tier: The Terraceous gang really got no love in this set. The grunt hands out with the hulk where they belong: on the bench.
Sort:

Another good guide. I have used Terraceous Grunt before. Usually in back to basics paired with even stevens. Very specific conditions but the high HP works well in those conditions. I've actually used it more than the 2 units you put in C. The puppet is pretty good in melee mayhem though.

I would place Thane Newsong 1 tier higher just because it can be devastating with Katrelba or even Quora, especially in lower leagues.

What can I say about the incredible job you're doing? Thank you! I enjoy reading and trying to guess where you've placed each unit. Overall, I agree with you. Maybe I would rate Musa as A+, or show more love to Riverboat because of its affliction (B tier). However, my main concern is with Terraceous Hulk. You can't bring a unit like this to life. Maybe in test mode, revamp, or rebuild, but never go live.

Another great tier list mate. Pretty much spot on as I see it!
