The Splinterlands Journey Begins

My Splinterlands journey has begun! (see disclaimer in footer)

I have started as a new account in Splinterlands attempting to follow Bulldog1205's Youtube guide on how to get started earning in Splinterlands.

The goal is pretty straightforward. How much profit can I turn with only the minimum investment ($10 spellbook) in Splinterlands?

My First Day

I opted to follow the guide from the video to a T on day 1 and rented the exact deck shown in the video. This deck consists of only common and rare Chaos cards at the max bronze level. It's essentially higher level starter cards with some reward cards thrown in. It cost me 15 DEC for 2 days of rentals. I also spent 4 DEC renting 500 SPS from the Xbot marketplace, for a total cost of 19 DEC spent on Day 1.

This deck was like God mode through the first few leagues, as I cruised through backed by higher level cards than my opponent. I climbed all the way to rank 840 before I lost a single battle, reaching my peaking SPS earnings of 0.18 SPS.

That 50% win streak bonus was NICE!

Throughout my run I mostly used a few core teams, adjusting the lineups based on the mana and ruleset. The first was the Obsidian magic team. Mycelic Slipspawn + Goblic Psychic make and extremely powerful tank/heal combo early in the game. Pairing these with as much magic attack as possible is a powerful early game team. I also pulled Blackmoor wild elf from one of my progression chests, giving me an extra magic boost.

This Thaddius squad below was another go to team. The thorns from Cursed Windeku makes it a nice tank up front, and the -1 magic damage is super effective early, especially with so many Obsidian teams out there. Then there are some highly effective archers in death to help provide that offensive punch.

And last but not least, the all powerful Kelya. Diemonshark/Flying Squid was my favorite 1-2 combo up front if I had enough mana, while Deeplurker is one of the best cards in Chaos. Cheap heals and repairs are very effective here as well, as is the protect from Venari Wavesmith (not shown below). Plenty of combinations of damage and support to adapt to multiple situations.

While it was smooth sailing up until around 800 rating with this deck, that's about where I hit a pretty hard wall. I went from facing level 1 decks to decks with higher bronze levels, legendary cards, and soulbound cards from previous sets I don't even have access to.

But this was enough. On average I was earning about 0.12 SPS per win, earning a grand total of 2.516 SPS on Day 1. Using Xbot's liquid reward tool I converted that into 21 DEC!

As a raw total that's not very much DEC, but it's enough to cover my entire 2 day card rental and 7 day SPS rental in just a single day! That means I am in the green!

Being profitable on day 1 is a tremendous start. To earn back my spellbook cost I will need to go higher though. The next step now will be to increase my rental cost to meet my current earnings. I'll rent a little more SPS and then look to spend about 8-10 more DEC per day on rentals. Then I will gauge my new earnings level from there! Ideally I can repeat this process over and over until I find a level I feel maximizes my earnings.

Be sure to check back for more updates on my progression!
