Fire vs Water: The Importance of Speed (and Luck)

I liked to use Bortus to counter Alric but sometimes, my counter to Alric would be countered by a fire deck. Like the one in the video. And when that happens, I would lose most of the time.

Not on this specific match though because despite being countered, I was still able to win against Pyre. And it was due to several factors but mostly due to speed and luck.

As everyone knows, Pyre adds speed to all fire splinters when used thus allowing his team to attack first. Moreover, if the additional speed was combined with Creeping Ooze’s ability to slow down the opposing team, the effect becomes more devastating.

Honestly, I would have lost the match if not for the rule set “Spreading Fury” which helped increase the stats of my monsters especially that of Axe Master’s speed.

If you watch the video, you’ll notice that my Torhilo was very close to dying. And if Serpentine Spy was able to attack one last time, it would have killed Torhilo. But due to the effect of “Spreading Fury” which increased Axe Master’s speed, Serpentine Spy was killed even before it could attack my Torhilo.

The other thing that had caused the opposing side the match was the death of Creeping Ooze. If Creeping Ooze was still alive, effect of “Spreading Fury” would be limited as Serpentine Spy and Axe Master would have the same speed. This mean that Serpentine Spy could have killed Torhilo before Axe Master could have killed it.

You might be wondering why I keep on harping Torhilo’s name, and why its death would lose me the match. Well, it has something to do with the fact that Axe Master is a ranged attacker which means that it would lose its ability to attack if Torhilo died. Fortunately, that didn’t happen and Axe Master was able to kill Serpentine Spy beforehand.

Well, that’s all for now. I hope you enjoy the fight (if you watched it).
