It's been a good week for me with few nice pulls from the 100 packs I purchased for Chaos Legion and the good returns enables me to sell few of those and get ready to purchase another 100 packs possibly by the weekend :)
This week's theme monster is from Chaos Legion edition and it's Lava Spider, a snipe ability ranged attack monster which will be a good ally for Yodin Zaku with moderate speed and good enough health for a 3 MANA cost monster.
Lava Spider is from Chaos Legion edition as I mentioned and is a common category monster from Fire Splinter and I feel these low MANA cost monsters will be a good addition to Fire Splinter as these, with leveling up, will be with good speed and attack too and provides great opportunity to be used with Yodin Zaku.
Stats:
At 3 MANA cost, this starts with single ranged attack and that can only get to 2 throughout it's 10 levels.
The speed starts moderate too with starting speed of 2 which can increase up to 4 as we level this up.
The health starts at 4 and like speed, this can also increase by 2 to be a max of 6.
As for as the abilities, this starts with snipe ability from level 1 itself, at level 6, it gets snare ability to remove the flying ability from monsters when it attacks and finally, it gets poison ability at the max level.
Battle and Lineup:

The battle had a MANA cap of 25 and I felt that is enough to accommodate Yodin Zaku and few good ranged attack monsters.
The rule sets for the battle were Back to basics (no special abilities to monsters) and Lost Magic with no magic monsters allowed in the battle.
Based on the MANA cap and rule sets, I planned to use Yodin Zaku as summoner and used monsters as below:
Lineup:
1. Venari Heatsmith:
Whenever there is a low MANA cap battle, I normally use this as it has armors and good enough health for 3 MANA cost monster and this can protect my ranged attack monsters getting exposed early.
2. Chaos Agent:
Since the aim was to use as many ranged attack monsters, I used this in Second position for any possible blast attack.
3. Lava Spider:
The theme monster of the week and one of the best monsters a 3 MANA cost and with Yodin Zaku, it becomes even more dangerous by giving 3 ranged attack for the 3 MANA cost it has!!!!
4. Imp Bowman:
One of the fastest 2 MANA cost monsters and gives 3 ranged attack for just 2 MANA cap and it's speed is added bonus and it's one of my favorites to be used with Yodin Zaku.
5. Scavo Firebolt:
Another Chaos Legion monster best suited for little league and other low MANA cap battles.
This gives 4 attack for 4 MANA cost and has good health too.
6. Fire Elemental:
Lastly, I used another ranged attack monster in FIre Elemental.
It gives 4 attack for 5 MANA cost, but it's highlight is the speed of 5 and that makes it to attack early in most of the battles I use it.
Opponent used Fire Splinter as well with monsters Fineas Rage, Gelatinous Cube, Scorch Fiend, Furious Chicken, Scavo Firebolt and Xenith Monk.
Battle:
Round 1:
When I saw that opponent used Fineas Rage and Gelatinous Cube, I felt it's gonna be tough for me to win this.
But, once the Fineas Rage reduced to 1 health by the end of round 1, I felt, I have a chance.
There were no casualties in this round as all the monsters moved to round although Fineas Rage was with just 1 health.
Round 2:
Most destructive of the rounds in this battle with as many as 4 of opponent's monsters and 2 from my side got removed in this round.
First to go was Venari Heatsmith followed by opponent's Fineas Rage and then, Gelatinous Cube and Scorch Fiend were removed for opponent.
In the end, even the Chaos Agent from my lineup also bowed out.
Round 3 and 4:
Scavo Firebolt for opponent was at front already and got removed in round 3 and in round 4, last monster from opponent's lineup Xenith Monk also got removed to end the battle!!!!
I didn't feel it will end this fast when First I saw those 2 monsters with huge health, but, once those got removed, there wasn't much left in this battle.
Questions and Answers:
Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?
Well, usage of as many as ranged attack monsters in the lineup paid off in the end as I had a comfortable win inspite of opponent using 2 huge health monsters in Fineas Rage and Gelatinous Cube.
That means, the strategy was good and the win made it more memorable one.
If I wasn't using Lava Spider, I could have gone for another ranged attack monster only to have maximum effect with Yodin Zaku as summoner.
Do I like the LAVA SPIDER? Why or why not?
As I said, these low MANA cost monsters from Fire splinter, especially, the ranged attack ones will be very effective with Yodin Zaku and yes, I do use this a lot when the MANA cap is less.
Chaos Legion edition has many such low MANA cost monsters which can be very effective with the new summoners we have.
That was some good battling there and to defeat the guys like Fineas Rage isn't easy because of it's speed and attack and even it's huge health, but, Yodin Zaku makes it all possible to have a win from jaws of defeat because of the blast and +1 ranged attack it gives.
