Thoughts on Fantasy and Real Battles

in Splinterlands3 years ago
Many of us have been playing Splinterlands for a while by now and, as the nature of the game demands, it awakens the competitive nature of players who naturally tend to seek for more and more power in order to achieve their own goals.

Being set in a fantasy world, having its own background and lore, the Splinterlands host many fierce battles as we know. From Novice to Champion leagues, they're the stage where an infinity of players, summonners and monsters furiously clash against each other, no matter what it takes.

In these battles, the more devastating the victory is the more the players get satisfaction from it. Even if it happens to be an unbalanced battle, with much stronger cards against not leveled ones, in case we're on the winning side that's great either way. For the winners it means more rewards and recognition as they climb the ranking ladder and they don't actually need to feel upset about their counterparts since they're only momentarily missing some DEC rewards and losing some ranking points - it's part of the game.

In real life however, as we all know, things work differently. Sharing a common lifespan as human beings, despite all the problems and challenges that eventually come up in life, there are some basic things we should all stand up for as the result of human actions throughout history.

As probably most of you may be aware of by now, we're about to enter the fifth day of official conflict and war between Russia and Ukraine by the time of writing and despite this post not being an exclusively game-related content, I decided to write it as I believe this kind of conflict and its consequences should not be overlooked, even if many may eventually be looking for a escape from the real world in the form of a game.

It is not my intention here to discuss the reasons which led to this situation nor take sides: countries have their own strategical interests and international politics is way more complex to be analyzed than I would possibly be able to do in here.

On the other hand one thing is certain:

By the 21st Century a direct war involving nations and all the suffering it brings to the people involved and the ones related should not be naturalized nor overlooked.

At this exact moment thousands of people are still leaving their homes trying to escape the terrible consequences of this conflict. For the ones who stay, unlike Splinterlands, having what seems to be such an uneven battle is deeply heartbreaking.

It is true that not much is at the reach of common citizens to change the current state of affairs regarding the conflict but I believe the internet and the social media may perform a very important role in situations like this in the history of mankind and that's the reason why I invite you, who's reading this post right now and relate to the subject, to also use the social media you're involved with to demand something we all as human beings relate to:

Peace!

STOP THE WAR!

My compliments to @romrom07, @drunksamurai, @casimirio and @gregory-f, the ones I found to also mention the conflict around here.

Sort:

That war harms the people and mostly the people of the oppressed side but also the people of the opresser too! I'm really sick of those immature, thick-headed so-called leader clowns!

Peace!
STOP THE WAR!
