RE: Unvalidated Reward Brawls

in Splinterlands2 days ago (edited)

Hey @tarazkp, I agree with @azircon you cover a lot of topics and have a lot of valid points. I particularly want to focus on this one because I agree 100%:

I think that given a decent run on the markets, things will turn around on the value of assets, but it should be remembered that it is a game first. If the only attractor is the potential to earn, like all crypto projects, it will eventually fail, because there will be another product that can offer higher potential earnings.

I do agree that the game is very important and it is the reason why a lot of people play. In addition, the earnings potential is another large factor as well.

What I also think is misunderstood by many is that there are also many other reasons why people play, and more importantly, WHY WOULD NEW PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY?

The first one is FUN. Fun is a subjective thing, everyone defines it different. However, to reach a larger audience we need to ask a simple question of everyone that discovers us: is this fun for you?

If the answer is yes on a high % of participants, then we are doing well. If the answer is no, then we have a lot of work ahead.

After that, there are many branches of the tree that could attract and retain people:

gameplay
ROI earnings from playing/staking/LPs
collectability
community engagement... ie. bonds built
strategic empire building development
short term trading opportunites
long term investments
passion of being involved early in an exciting new world
... many others too

I want to let you know that I am aware of this, agree with you that we are much more than a typical "crypto asset pump/dump", and plan to refine our process so that we capture the opportunities.

I also want to briefly address this one too:

However, what I would like to see is something that ties Hive into the mix occasionally, where for example there would be a reward card that is toed to HIVE holdings

I 100% agree. Its in my mind. I think its a win/win. Not quite sure yet on who I speak with to make this happen, but I want to see us support our partners with cool and exciting programs.

I believe there are many ways we can all work together - whether HIVE directly or with other games on the HIVE chain to promote growth for all... Like I said I view it as a win/win and a smart way to grow.

Thanks for the reply. I will get back to this tomorrow - my wife threw me a surprise birthday party and I have had a couple drinks :)

No worries and Happy Birthday Tarazkp!!!

Cheers!

I had the same thing yesterday :)

Happy birthday too :)

Thanks!

WHY WOULD NEW PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY?

I think this is pertinent. And yes, it also includes the potential to earn. But it also takes variability in result and balanced sets that require skill to play, rather than just the best set, or a couple key cards. Not my area though :)

It is definitely a win-win to have hive crossover participation that lays outside just posting. :)

I agree with you here too!
