Land
The Land expansion in Splinterlands introduces land ownership in Praetoria, where players can develop plots of land to produce unique resources. Currently, it is in Phase 1.5 of this expansion, allowing players to begin building work sites and harvesting resources, with over 50 resources planned for future phases.
Land Structure in Praetoria
Praetoria is divided into 150,000 plots spread across 7 territories including:
- Plots: Basic unit of land that can be purchased as an "unexplored plot" or "explored plot" with detailed data.
- Tracts: Made up of 100 plots, ensuring that at least one contains a Fortress or Castle.
- Regions: Units of 1000 plots, with each region securing a Castle and several Fortresses.
Each plot can be explored to reveal its Land Type, Rarity, and Geography.
Land Types and Features
- Land Types:
- Natural: No additional benefits.
- Magical: +100% to research.
- Occupied: +100% to SPS mining.
- Kingdom: Owners of Fortresses and Castles collect production taxes on their tracts or regions.
- Geography: Praetoria has 14 types of terrain (e.g., Desert, Tundra). Each terrain favors certain elements, which affects the productivity of worker cards.
- Rarity: Land claims are categorized into Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic (which houses Strongholds and Castles). Higher rarity land grants production boosts.
Land Development Phase and Resource Production
Phase 0.5: Transformed land claims into "Unexplored Land Titles", assigning location in Praetoria.
Phase 1: Allowed players to explore plots to discover their rarity, type, and geography. Also introduced Starter Packs, which are no longer available.
Phase 1.5: Players can build work sites for production and assign worker cards and DEC to their plots.
- Grain: Consumable resource that keeps worker cards active and is tradable at the Trade Hub.
- SPS: Governance token, also obtained as a reward in some events.
- Research: Exclusive to each territory and used to advance the Praetoria story.
Production, Harvesting and Resources
To start production, players must build worksites by allocating:
- DEC: The more DEC is invested, the higher the production.
- Energy Source: Allows worker cards to operate on the plot.
- Worker Cards: Cards from older series and Runi (special cards) provide bonuses.
After 7 days, worksites stop production and players must perform a harvest of resources. During this stage, taxes are collected at Fortresses and Castles, and totem fragments can be found to improve production.
Titles and Bonuses
Prefix Titles: These grant benefits in ranked matches and are awarded for meeting certain land-related requirements. They are non-transferable.
Resource Trading: Players can trade grain and DEC in the Trade Hub, and earn income for adding these resources to the liquidity pool.
