New Reward Structure - Thread 1 of...

in Splinterlands3 years ago

Hi all,

I have done some experimenting with the new reward structure, and only 5 days into the second season since the change, I am seeing a clear trend.

I'll break this down into parts, as this will be quite long (you've been warned). Firstly, I'll discuss my original plan and my thinking behind it.

Near the conlusion of the last season of old rewards, I was sitting on 2,043 rating points on the last day of the season. After reading that players would start the new season earning chests based on their finish to the season, I rented the 75,000 power to push me from Silver 3 to Gold 3.
This also resulted in me winning 22 season Chests instead of 12. It also meant I started the new season in Silver 3, instead of going back to Bronze.
My rewards were good but not great:

3 of the new reward cards (Revealer, Merdampir, Ever-Hungry Skull)
A bunch of Pelacors: 2 Mercenaries, 2 Conjurers & 1 Bandit.
1 Exploding rats
4 Alchemy Potions & 2 Legendary Potions
394 DEC

My thinking to earn Gold chests all season, with their increased odds, turned out to be mitigated by the fact that I need to earn more focus points to earn chests. 18,000 per chest, whereas Silver seems to start around 5,000.
On the first day of the new rewards system, I failed to get the required focus points, due to the fact I was only earning about 1,000 focus points in Silver 3. The fact that my focus was on the Life splinter, (after changing from Death), which is one of my weakest, didn't help.

In the second thread, which I'll post tomorrow, I'll discuss how I finished up in the first season of the new rewards.

Cheers,

Dengarzone
