I see this question asked often by new players to the game, there have been some videos and some articles already written on this subject but I have not found anything detailed and easy to understand for someone that is brand new to the game.
So in this post I will explain in the detail all the current benefits of being a guild member in the Splinterlands game. (Keep in mind, everything you read below is subject to change since the game is constantly evolving and updates are being made all the time)
The Simple Answer
Yes, there are many benefits to being a member of a guild, but there are also many costs to unlocking all those benefits to every member of the guild. Just to create a Guild costs 10,000 DEC. This is why when you try to join, many guilds will ask for an upfront joining fee and daily contributions.
Currency Used In Guilds
The 3 currencies you earn and spend in guilds are DEC, CROWNS and MERITS. These currencies are used to upgrade buildings, win in Brawls and spend in the guild store (more on this below).
Guild Buildings
The main building of a guild is the Guild Hall
The level of this building is a level cap for all other buildings, so if this building is at level 3 no other buildings can be upgraded above level 3. Also each level upgrade of this building allows you to invite more members into the guild.
The chart above shows the member limit and upgrade costs for each level of the Guild Hall.
The next building is the Quest Lodge
The level of this building resets at the beginning of every season and it is upgraded by Quest completion of each guild member, so the more guild members complete daily quests the faster this building is upgraded to max level to unlock it's benefits.
The chart above shows the cost and benefits for each level of the building. For example at level 10 if you win 10 DEC in a match you get 2 DEC free (so you win 12 DEC) and if you buy a $4 pack of cards in the store you only pay $3.60 for it.
The next building is the Arena
Upgrading this building allows your guild to participate in Guild Brawls (battles between guilds).
The chart above shows the costs and rewards you get for upgrading this building. As you can see it costs both DEC and CROWNS to upgrade and the rewards are more Frays to join and your rewards are multiplied. Frays are battles, for example at level 1 only 13 members of your guild can participate in a Brawl, one member per Fray.
The next building is the Barracks
Upgrading the Barracks building unlocks benefits that give your guild an advantage in Brawls.
The chart above shows the costs and benefits of upgrading this building, as you can see it also costs DEC and CROWNS to upgrade this building. One of the benefits is being able to use higher level Gladiator cards (more on this below).
The final building is the Guild Store
The guild store allows guild members to purchase 4 different items and gives MERIT rewards from Brawls.
The chart above shows the upgrade costs and rewards for each level of the store. As you can see the Store has to be at least at level 1 in order for guild members to win MERITS from Brawls and at level 2 you can purchase Gladius card packs when you have enough MERITS.
The above image shows what guild members can purchase inside the Guild Store when it is unlocked.
Currently the costs are
Gladius Case card pack costs 2000 MERITS
Spy Glass costs 5 CROWNS
Blood Stone costs 60 MERITS
Power Stone costs 80 MERITS
The above image shows some of the Gladiator Cards that come inside the Gladius Case packs, this is not all of them but most of them. These cards can only be used in Brawls and cannot be sold, they are bound to your account. A big benefit of these cards is the increase your total account Collection Power Points, so even though you cannot use them in regular battle, owning them allows you to move up into a higher League Tier.
More Info On Guild Brawls
Guild brawls are basically just battles between guilds, kind of like tournaments except you only have matches against members of other guilds that are similar in level to your guild. Each member joins a Fray which has limitations to what cards you can use in that Fray.
The biggest benefit of participating in Brawls is the ability to win CROWNS and MERITS which you need to buy Gladiator cards in the Guild Store. Gladiator cards are a big bonus to increasing your Collection Power Points.
In Conclusion
Overall this is basically all the current benefits and costs of Splinterland guilds, if I missed anything feel free to let me know in the comments.
In my opinion being a guild member is definitely worth it because of all the additional bonuses, discounts and cards you get access to. Of course this is not the case for everyone, because of the costs of upgrading everything to unlock the bonuses. If the fees you are expected to pay for being a member of a guild are more than the bonuses you get, obviously it would not be worth it for you. If that is the case I would recommend finding a newer guild that does not have high membership fees.
Good luck battling everyone, thanks for checking out my post!
I think that you pointed out the most important things😀 Guilds are a great thing...but at this time, leveling up the buildings is rather expensive....and a lot of players in the guilds are spending their hard earned DEC on renting cards...
Yeah for sure, it will be interesting to see what happens to the rental market once Chaos card packs begin being opened.
Excellent and thank you very much for the clear and concise information, I have been in splinterlands not more than four or five seasons and I still had not managed to understand how the guild works, great post!
Thanks!
