BATTLE LINK -- January 26, 2025 -- Day 26 of 365 vs. @dlacerda7
For the third consecutive day, I've got a Champion League Modern ranked battle to share. Lucky for me, this is one of my absolute favorite strategies to use in a trample ruleset, especially for low-mana battles. How fitting that last week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge was to highlight our favorite strategies.
The 17-mana battle had three rulesets: Stampede, Fog of War, and Weak Magic. The only element excluded from the battle was Water. Whenever I get the stampede ruleset at Diamond or Champion League, my first thought always goes to the Rebellion legendary, Venka, who gets trample at Level 4. Venka is an extremely powerful threat with trample since it can attack from anywhere with its charge ability and its base 5 speed allows it to get its attack in early.
In low-mana battles, most monsters have lower health too, making it more likely that Venka can chain several trample attacks in a row. The key to these battles is to have the speed advantage so your Venka strikes first. I accomplished this by using Akane as my summoner to give Venka ambush and selecting two monsters to give my team added swiftness.
Today's featured monster is the Chaos Legion rare reward card, Naga Assassin. For only 2 mana, this support monster adds swiftness at maximum Level 8 with elite 6 speed. Especially in low-mana battles, Naga Assassin is a surefire way to be faster than the opponent.
Of course, if my default is to choose Venka in stampede battles, it's likely my opponent's plan too. Thus, it is imperative to have the faster Venka if trampling to victory is the plan. Therefore, I jammed Assassin and Soul Fiend for two added speed.
The only thing faster than top speed is an ambush attack, so I brought Akane along for its ambush tactic. When my opponent revealed their lineup, I noticed that their tank had 8 health, so my Venka couldn't trample over with its 7-power melee attack.
But have no fear, Naga Assassin is even faster than Venka, which allowed it to deal two damage to their tank, weakening its health just enough and allowing Venka to trample through their entire lineup!
While it's not so much fun for my opponent, I love it when my Venka tramples over all their monsters before they've had a chance to attack. For this reason, Venka is my favorite strategy to use in low-mana stampede battles. Just make sure your team is faster than theirs or they might be trampling over you. Consider yourself warned!
