It was a race against time for me to earn the rating points needed to make it to Modern League Champion 1 before the end of Ranked Rewards Season 32. I woke up with only two hours to go and I needed 160 rating points to make it to 4300 for a Champion 1 finish.
I was able to reel off a 3-game streak before taking a loss. Then another 4-game winning streak took me within touching distance... 4298 points after my win over @akomoajong! Just one more win to achieve my goal.
But as the clock ticked under one hour until the season's end, I dropped the battle I needed to win and was forced to eat it against @tidepodoreos... a 26-point loss down to 4272. I completely goofed the lineup in a snipe ruleset and now I had more work to do to make up those lost points.
1st Win vs. @bandano
I won this first battle against my fellow Kingdom of Glory alliance member from Guardians. I was able to use the only Untamed card in the battle, Shieldbearer, to divert attacks away from my Arkemis long enough to kill his first. It also helped that I was able to mostly blank his sneak-defense Diemonshark until it became the tank at the end of the battle.
+10 rating points to 4282. One big rating-point win would get me there.
2nd Win vs. @bryonk
With the Fog of War + Enrage battle conditions, I decided to go for the speed play with Nightmare as tank. Halfway through the first round, it was hit by an attack and enraged to 11 speed. From there, it was nearly untouchable for the remainder of the battle, while Lira, Raa, and the gang slowly picked off their team.
+10 rating points to 4292. I needed one last 3-game win streak to lock up Champion 1.
3rd Win vs. @mernmin
After looking at the lineup reveal, I felt pretty confident about this battle. 5 of the 6 monsters were effectively the same (I use a level 3 Dragon Jumper to avoid the 5th melee attack into forcefield), and I seemed to be at an advantage with my 2cc Vruz able to deal speedy sneak damage vs. their 2cc Scavo Chemist with slow and no attack.
SUCCESS! Mission Accomplished!
With less than 30 minutes to spare, I crossed the 4300 rating-point threshold into Champion 1. This was the first season since the start of the human-modern era that I was able to achieve a Champion 1 rating in Modern League and Wild League in the same season!
The only thing holding me back from this being my most successful season earning SPS was my lack of time to play in Gold Foil tournaments. Considering I was at camping music festivals on back-to-back weekends (Imagine & Lost Lands) with limited to no mobile service available, I felt lucky enough that I was able to participate in most of the brawls and manually play battles on the last day of the season!
Hopefully, tomorrow I will have the time to post an End Of Season article comparing my report cards from the most recent two seasons, so keep an eye out for more Splinterlands coverage soon. As always, I'm eager to read what you think about my content and engage in dialog, so I'll see you in the comments section.

Congrats on your climb to champion 1 in both leagues, that's quite an accomplishment!
Thanks mate. I can't claim I did any of the work for Wild League Champ 1, that was still all @archmage.app since I had to have my account on autopilot for most of the season while I was away at music fests.
But I was glad to see I still have the competitive chops to rank up from Champ 3 to Champ 1 in under 36 hours to make it over 4300 before EoS. Will be more interesting when I compare earnings from the last two seasons.
Even with it being archmage, it's impressive to hit champ in both leagues.
I enjoyed your post, I hope you keep doing more of these!
Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely try to spend more time highlighting some fun battles over the course of the season. I really wanted to get these last three battles covered since it was such a rush getting in that last win streak to beat the EoS clock!

This was an interesting post. Not that many people are good at turning their splinterland battles into a narrative. I'm glad that I was able to fill the role as a "villain" in your story. It would have been boring if you were able to enter Champ 1 unopposed.
