For Guild & Glory: Brawl Report #152 -- #154

Brawl 154.png

Overview

Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: @ducecrypto in Tier 4 with @shield-of-glory from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance, @treycrypto in Tier 3 with the @yggspl-official alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and @shaelien in Tier 3 with the always lively @the420syndicate. You can see my last report for Brawl #151 here.

Wow... it has been nearly two weeks since my last report! All the festivities and travel of Electric Daisy Carnival Week and Memorial Day Weekend really sidetracked my writing schedule. With that being said, this report will cover the last three brawl cycles, from 152 through 154. The writing will be a bit more brief and my normal cadence of reports for each cycle should resume for Brawl #155. Now on to the action!

DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory

Brawl #152 ending May 17

SoG Brawl 152.png

For Brawl #152 in Tier 4, Shield of Glory reigned supreme in a tight group, finishing three wins ahead of guilds [RKO] Outta Nowhere and Peakmonsters [Premiere], who tied for second place. Our record of 118 wins and 58 losses earned us 196 crowns, 11200 merits, and 167 SPS. We were led by @champion-slayer and his perfect 9-0 record. Defending Fray 18 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League, I finished with a respectable 6-2 record, beating both of the brawlers from the second place guilds: @xwaakaa from RKO and @ashman-aces from Peakmonsters.

Brawl #153 ending May 23

SoG Brawl 153.png

Shield of Glory was unable to extend its winning streak for Brawl #153, slipping down to third place by a narrow margin of one win behind second place Legendary Raptors and three wins behind first place The Guild of Neoxian. Interestingly, our record from Brawl #152 would have been good enough to secure first place again, but in Brawl #153 our record was 114 wins and 62 losses. We earned 149 crowns, 8514 merits, and 159 SPS in third place. We didn't field any undefeated brawlers in this cycle, and @xsuilx was our only brawler to reach eight wins. Again defending Fray 18, I only managed a pedestrian 5-3 record, beating @sonniwins from The Guild of Neoxian and losing to @splintercogg from Legendary Raptors.

Brawl #154 ending May 28

I didn't even get around to copying the brawl results like I typically do for Brawl #154, so I will rely on the information available from @splex for my analysis. Shield of Glory had the potential to win this brawl, but we failed to fill all of our frays and finished three wins behind Samurai Soul. All we needed was a 3-4 record from the one fray we failed to fill to secure first place, but alas, we have to settle for second place with a record of 103 wins and 50 losses, which was good for 162 crowns, 9257 merits, and 171 SPS. We had some strong brawl performances, including clean sweeps by @petroni7 (8-0) and @star-shroud (7-0), but it was not enough. Sadly, I was part of the problem this cycle, stumbling to a 3-4 record defending Fray 18. I'm hopeful Shield of Glory will get back to winning ways for Brawl #155.

TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)

Brawl #152 ending May 17

YGG Brawl 152.png

In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) absolutely crushed the competition in Brawl #152, 29 wins ahead of the second place guild, S Family. Our overall record was a sparkling 101 wins and 29 losses, earning us 121 crowns, 6722 merits, and 59 SPS. We had a total of four players with clean sweeps of their frays: @banzafahra (8-0), @lilreaper (8-0), @shadowflame21 (5-0) and me (6-0), defending Fray 16 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League.

Brawl #153 ending May 23

YGG Brawl 153.png

YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) ran it back in Brawl #153, again taking the top spot in our group. We finished ahead of our Yield Guild Games alliance competition -- YGG Legacy -- by a comfortable 15 wins. Our record of 94 wins and 42 losses was good for 116 crowns, 6444 merits, and 46 SPS. We only had three brawlers with perfect records this time around: our leader @lilreaper (9-0), @greatplayer2020 (7-0), and @haedan (5-0). I fell one win short in Fray 16 with a 5-1 record, my only loss coming to @ace34 from [TYC] Never Alone Esport.

Brawl #154 ending May 28

For some unknown reason, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) struggled to fill its frays for Brawl #154, leaving two frays empty and playing 14 fewer battles than Splinterlands.ru, the first place guild. To be fair, even if we had swept those two missing frays, we were still three losses behind first place, so they won the brawl fair and square. Our record of 84 wins and 34 losses still yielded us 99 crowns, 5500 merits, and 44 SPS. Despite the second place finish, this was personally my most successful brawl, sweeping Fray 16 with an 8-0 record. @haedan and @greatplayer2020 also swept their frays with 6-0 marks. I'm confident that we will bounce back in Brawl #155 with a full roster of brawlers to challenge for first place.

Shaelien & The 420 Syndicate

Brawl #152 ending May 17

420 Brawl 152.png

Near the other end of Tier 3, The 420 Syndicate has been quietly plugging along, putting up some nice brawl records above a 50% win rate. In Brawl #152, we finished in sixth place and only two wins behind fifth place. Our final tally of 55 wins and 48 losses helped us to 50 crowns, 2500 merits, and 32 SPS. Leading us to sixth place were @suavesounds at 8-1 and @jymydan at 6-1. Defending Fray 10 - Modern Gold League, I finished at an even 3-3 record, although I did get a nice win over @bobafet from the winning guild [KOG] Aegis of Glory.

Brawl #153 ending May 23

420 Brawl 153.png

In Brawl #153, The 420 Syndicate finished one win below a 50% win rate down in seventh place. Four more wins would have moved us up to fifth place, but alas, our 46-win and 47-loss record only earned us 41 crowns, 2050 merits, and 24 SPS. Props to longtime 420 brawler @squirrelacus for leading us in this brawl with a 6-1 record. Slops to me then, for fleeing eight of my nine battles. I won the one battle I was able to complete against @chidorine, but those eight losses really hurt us -- had I won just half of those eight flees we would have slid up to fifth place. This low finish was completely avoidable and I let my guildmates down. Sorry yall!

Brawl #154 ending May 28

image.png

In the most recent brawl, the 420 Syndicate slid all the way down to last place of the nine guilds in our group. We actually had a better win percentage (43%) than two of the T&A Legion guilds ahead of us (III 38% and IX 40%), but since we played 35 battles less than the maximum of 115, we had fewer chances to win and a smaller margin of error. Just 10 wins from those 35 possible battles would have meant a finish in the Top 5. We were led by a trio of brawlers with 5-2 records: @supermuffin, @mordikkio, and @squirrelacus. I came in under expectations with a 3-5 record defending Fray 10. Now that my schedule is a bit more settled and some guildmates are returning from vacation, we should be better poised to continue to push for finishes in the Top 5 with an overall record around a 50% win rate.

The Gladius Cases

With three brawls worth of Gladius Cases, there's just too much to post and cover here. The highlights of the Gladius Case openings were a Gold Foil Witch of Warwick for Duce and two Gold Foils for Trey: Witch of Warwick and Alva the Crusher. Nothing much of note for Shaelien this time around.

New Brawl Preview

For Brawl #155, Shield of Glory has a rematch in Tier 4 against The Guild of Neoxian and I'm confident we can improve on the last result and take first place this week. In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) face off against two other Top 30 guilds -- The Wizards at 22nd and YGG alliance members YGG Dragons at 29th. We've beaten both of these guilds in the past, so I have faith we can take the top spot. The 420 Syndicate comes into Brawl #155 as the second lowest ranked guild in its group at 177 and has to compete with five guilds ranked in the Top 100, so we have our work cut out for us.

For those who stuck it out to the end, thanks for reading through my special triple-brawl, end-of-May report. Now that I'm back home in Brooklyn, I should be able to get back to my rhythm of reporting once per brawl cycle. As always, your support is appreciated and I will do my best to engage with your comments in a timely manner, so please drop me a message if you'd like.

Until next time, I'll see you in the Splinterlands.
