I used it a few times to good success. I find that it is best as a rear tank played ahead of a camouflage monster, so in position 5. Hopefully it gets in an attack and draws a miss or two before dying and giving martyr ability to position 4 and 6.

I also think the energy change is a good one because everything is more straightforward. All rShares are the same for every winning battle. All battles cost exactly one unit of energy. It takes exactly 1 hour to get a battle back. I think this will be a big positive for ranked play as the transparency is more clear.

That is how I have used it too. I have had "okay" success so far, but it is fun!

And yes, it does make things easier to understand :)
