DEC Price PREDICTION: post-Quest Potion update
Disclaimer: Everything you will read in this post is but a mere prediction in my part. I CAN BE WRONG. But, I assure you that I did some research regarding this topic. If you have any queries or additional thoughts, feel free to comment below. I believe, this is a good topic to discuss.
Many believe that after the devs updated the quest potion (you can't buy it with credits anymore) the DEC price will skyrocket...
Here are my thoughts...
The intended price for a quest potion is supposedly 1 dollar each. And by paying using credits, we are not actually saving, we are just paying the exact amount that we should pay for every quest potion. But why isn't it worth it to buy quest potion using DEC? Well, DEC's price was originally 1000 DEC for 1 dollar. But, because of the SPS airdrop being implemented for 1 whole year, and people get more airdrop rewards according to the amount of DEC they have in-game, people are hoarding DEC in-game. And this affects the DEC value by a ton.
Here's why... The price of DEC is dependent on the amount of DEC distributed to all players, and if more and more people are hoarding DEC instead burning them, the price of DEC will surely appreciate.
Where is this heading?

  • Following the theory I've mentioned above, it is very likely that the value of DEC will go higher... At least until the SPS airdrop ends (because again, people wants more of those daily airdrops). BUT, also expect DEC to go back to its intended price which is for every 1000 DEC = $1 or 1 DEC = 0.001 cents AFTER the SPS Airdrop ends.
What will happen to the future of the play-to-earn mechanic in Splinterlands?
  • Now, before you doubt the game, here's the good news. SPS, if I remember it correctly(Based on the official discord AMA) will become the new DEC next year. Meaning the DEC will be a constant value and the SPS will now be the currency that is volatile and is highly affected by the supply and demand on the market. And the SPS you get from staking will definitely pay out soon.
    Added Thoughts:
  • Since the DEC value won't go down any sooner (given that we still have about 11 months till the SPS airdrop ends), feel free to grind more and more DEC in ranked battles. If there's a good time to grind DEC, that would be NOW...
Alright, I will go back to grinding... God Bless 🙏
Edit: To answer some few questions:
Do I think that the price per DEC will increase significantly?
  • Reasonably YES. I don't see it going down at least WITHIN the duration of the SPS airdrops.
    What should be our response?
  • GRIND. Grind as much DEC as you can in a span of 11 months.
From 500 daily new registrations in the beginning of July to over 5,000 daily new registrations before heading into August, Splinterlands, a digital collectible and trading card game operating under Hive blockchain, is now preparing to launch Brawls 2.0 feature of their in-game guild system.

Brawls 2.0 is an expansion of Splinterland’s current Brawls system and adds new features like tactical and strategic depth into battles, in addition to game enhancements such as Mana Well and the Battle screen. (Read More: How to Play-to-Earn Splinterlands: Philippines Guide: SPS Token 101)

The testing phase for Brawls 2.0 is still currently ongoing and is only available for what Splinterlands team called “Monster Mavericks.” These are players that bought at least 500 packs from their previous released editions.

The new edition of card packs is what they called “Gladius Cases” which are exclusive only inside the Guild Store. It consists of five (5) cards, the same with the previously released card packs.

GLADIUS CASES CARDS DO’S AND DON’TS

According to Splinterlands official blog post, Gladius cases cards are far more stronger than normal cards that are used on ranked battles because they are intended to be used as your monsters’ team leaders.

Aside from that, there are certain rules on Gladius case cards which don’t apply to normal cards:

  1. Gladiator cards cannot be traded, delegated, rented, or sold which they called SoulBound or only attached to a player’s account.

  2. Gladiator cards can only be played in Brawls.

  3. In a team battle, a player can only select one (1) Gladiator card per battle.

  4. There is no limit to a number of Gladius cases which can be purchased on the Guild store.

  5. Legendary and Alchemy potions don’t work on Gladius cases. Instead, Splinterlands will introduce a new item which can be used on Gladius cases called Bloodstones and Power stones which work similarly as potions.

  6. Gladiator cards levels can be limited by the guild Fray levels.

  7. Gladiator cards are also counted under a player’s Collection Power score and will count for their SPS airdrop.

  8. Gladiator cards can also be burned and converted into DEC at Untamed burn rates.

  9. All Gladius Edition cards have a new ability called “Bloodlust” which gains more strength as they kill more enemies, becoming more dangerous as the battle goes on.

The Splinterlands team clarified that QA testing doesn’t have an exact date but they assured that it will be announced soon.
