A wonderful day for my fellow players in the Hive Blockchain Community. Another great opportunity given by the @splinterlands team for the weekly battle challenges. This week the featured monster to be used is Feral Spirit (You can also use other monsters that you like for the challenge) and I would like to share to your my battle for this challenge.

To start, Feral Spirit is one of the cards from the Alpha and Beta Editions. It is a common type card under the Light Attribute monsters. When I started the game in August 2021, this is one of the cards that is free to use before the release of the Chaos Legion Edition. A great starter card with a sneak ability in level one, good for attacking the last spot enemy monster card. Under the low mana capacity battles and little league rulesets, this is a good card to choose pairing it with monsters with the ability to add speed and melee damage. The downside that I can see with this card is under the Reverse Speed Ruleset due to its high speed stat that will increase as you level up the card.

In the featured battle, I rented the Feral Spirit level 8 because my ranking is within the Gold League. In level 8, it has a stats of 7 speed, 3 melee damage, and 4 health. A good card to be positioned in the second monster spot so that it will not die immediately and can attack the last position enemy monsters. Depending on the ruleset, this card could gain you a win or loss in battles.

Because it is a low mana capacity battle, I have to choose carefully what and where to place the monsters appropriate for the battle. I was able to use wisely the featured monster in the battle serving as my main damager in the game. Even if the melee damage of most of my monsters has been reduced due to the ability of the enemy summoner, there is still a great gap in damage and health thanks to the magic attacks of the Divine healer while healing the tank leading for it to last in the battle.

Battle Rules

  • UNPROTECTED: Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs leading to Protect, Piercing, Repair and Rust to be useless.
  • Explosive Weaponry: Monsters have the blast ability where its best to choose monsters with Snipe, Sneak, Opportunity abilities with high speed stats.
  • MANA CAPACITY: 12

ENEMY FORMATIONMY FORMATION
Summoner:Zintar MortalisTyrus Paladium
First Position:CocatriceCrystal Werewolf
Second Position:Furious ChickenDivine Healer
Third Position:Parasitic GrowthFeral Spirit
Fourth Position:Elven CutthroatFurious Chiken

To start, I choose Tyrus Paladium as a Summoner. It gives additional armor to his summons which can help to not immediately die all the monsters in the field. It is also the only summoner that I rented in the Light Attribute.

For this battle, I choose Crystal Werewolf as a tank. I rented this card in level of 6 having a stats of 4 speed, 2 melee damage, and 6 health. I would say it is a good low level tank due to its Thorns ability and with the Silence ability, it reduces the magic attack of enemy monsters.

For support, I choose Divine Healer. In level 8, it has a stats of 2 speed, 1 magic attack, and 5 health. It also have the Tank Heal Ability and Slow Ability which is one of the factors that leads to me winning the battle.

The Feral Spirit is the main damager of the formation. With its ability sneak, it helps with the damaging the enemy monsters in the backline and with the help of the blast ability which is it causes damage to aligned enemy monsters.

Lastly, I choose Furious Chicken as a sacrificial backline defense that shields the Feral Spirit so that it will not die immediately. This is a great non-attribute card because you can use it to other attribute type levels within the expected mana capacity.

My strategy definitely work thanks to the ability of the Divine Healer. Not only it heals the tank for its health, it also reduces the speed of the enemy monsters leading for the Feral Spirit to be used in its full potential. Also with the sacrifice of the Furious Chicken, the Feral Spirit last longer in battle. The only regret that I have is that I should choose a more appropriate summoner for the battle which is the Lorna Shine so that the blast ability will not activate in the first attacks due to the Holy Protection. Overall, this is a great battle experience for me that I will add to my strategies in the future.

Being in the Light Attribute where I don't usually rent cards to play in my daily battles, I honestly don't use it aside for this challenge. I usually rent cards from the Fire and Earth attributes and experiencing the Light attribute battles for a change of pace, I would say that it is a great experience for me. I can fully utilize the abilities of the Feral Spirit if I have a clear understanding of the abilities of the other light attribute monsters like I do with the Fire and Earth attributes. After this battle, I will review some of the Light attribute cards to create some strategies that is worth to win so that I can expand my knowledge in terms of strategical battles.

That is all for me with this challenge. I hope you learned something from this experience. Thank you for reading my blog and giving advices in winning battles.
