The featured ruleset this week adds the Blast ability to all monsters on the battlefield.
The ruleset can be recognized by the following icon:
This ability allows your monsters to do additional damage to monsters adjacent to the target monster.
It is often associated with the legendary summoner Yodin, which was considered one of the best until the recent addition of the Reflection Shield ability.
The battle being shared is from ranked play in diamond league.
Rulesets
This was a high mana battle with cap of 52. The Fire, Life, Death and Dragon splinters were available. It had 3 rulesets:
- Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
- Super Sneak: All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability.
- Explosive Weaponry: All Monsters have the Blast ability.
Lineups
Mine
Jacek - Chosen to try and have initiave (more speed to attack 1st) and making use of the piercing, since in Blast and Earthquake rulsets armor tends to be a consideration.
Arkemis - As a backline tank I chose Arkemis, which served both to defend from high damage melee attackers (due to Force Field) which all has sneak, and to provide additional armor to my whole team.
Kinjo - Adjacent to my backline tank I placed Kinjo, in order to absord any blast damage.
Tusk - As a frontline tank I chose Tusk, which served to defend from magic attackers.
Forgotten One - Chosen due to the huge damage it has.
Grum - Chosen due to the huge damage it has.
Molten Ash - Chosen to provide a decent meatshield for the frontline last second, it should have been Ash Mirage for a 2nd reflection shield.
Team was created to focus on bursting the backline largely ignoring the Earthquake ruleset.
Opponent
My opponent focused on having Chaos Dragon for the backline, which with flying, blind and 2 potential Martyr buffs from the Rat to go to 11 potential damage if in the middle of the pack, could create serious trouble if it could avoid a few hits. On the frontline he had the common presense of Uriel in these high mana Earthquake rulesets. Others seemed to be chosen to add support (triage & ressurect), and survivability (flying). No focus fire on the backline.
Round 1
On the opposing side, during the 1st round the Rat was killed twice by the blast (revive used up) and the Chaos Dragon with Halving and 2 Martyr buffs is almost dead. My lineup was in quite decent form, so unless some RNG misses happened (flying+blind), match was pretty much decided already.
Round 2
The opponent backline crumbled due to the huge damage with blast, but in my side Uriel was Uriel and with his hit rdy and with blast took out 2 monsters without effort. Very low risk of a loss unless flying could surprise me with a huge miss streak.
Round 3
Only I hit this round and the oppoent is 1 hit away from defeated.
Round 4
As expected oppent was defeated.
Conclusion
Even with the mistake of not fielding Ash Mirage, the strategy was successful. It was somewhat strange not seeing Jared Scar on the opposing lineup given the choice of Life splinter, but it wouldn't have helped the opponent because of the Force field to reduce damage to 1 and having a Reflection Shield besides it.
