After I was able to upgrade all common cards from the Rebellion Reward Set to level 5 (part 1 & part 2), the next step is the rare cards. Fittingly, I was able to buy some rare draws with my Glint that I was able to save up in the past @splinterlands seasons. Let's see if I was lucky and got one or two golden cards.
I spent 75k Glint to buy 100 Rare Draws. Of course I used Alchemy Potions to open them, but I still only got two gold cards, which is a bit disappointing. But primarily, gold cards are not so important to me, but rather that I get as many different cards as possible so that I can upgrade them. By the way, you can watch the opening again here.
The cards I received have already allowed me to upgrade a few of the rare cards. It's important to emphasize that I only upgrade my rare cards to level 4, as I don't have a summoner who could summon a higher level of rare cards. Let's take a look at the rare cards that I was able to upgrade to level 4.
Skyspire Leopard
A card with very nice artwork from the Life Splinter is Skyspire Leopard. The Melee Attacker has no ability at the first level and only average stats, which makes it boring at first. After I leveled it up, the card got the abilities Retaliate and Void Armor and another Melee Attack. But even the upgrade doesn't really make the card interesting in my opinion. It's a mid-cost tank that counters Magic Attacker with the ability Reatliate Melee Attacker and the ability Void Armor, but doesn't do anything special.
Razorhound
Typical for the Water Splinter, we got a relatively cheap ranged attacker with Razorhound. Due to the Strengthen ability, I would rather put the card in the supporter category, but it can also do some damage itself. This damage is confirmed once again by the True Strike ability, which it received through the upgrade. Nevertheless, I have to say that I don't think the card is particularly good. The stats are generally a bit too low for that, and the abilities aren't particularly good either.
Chaos Adjutant
For the neutral Splinter we got a Magic Attacker with Chaos Adjutant. At the first level, the card will probably not be played very much, as it has the unpopular ability Scattershot. The upgrade added the Snare ability, which might make it a bit more interesting in combination, especially in battles with the Earthquake ruleset. But in my opinion, that's the only use case of the card, so I don't really like it. On the other hand, I think the artwork of the card is cool, at least somewhat.
Quilliun Legionary
A versatile card is Quilliun Legionary. This is because it is a ranged attacker from Earth Splinter, which does not have a very high attack, but a lot of health points. In combination with the Close Range ability, the card can be used both as a front and rear tank. The two abilities Thorns and Void further emphasize the defensive qualities of the card. The abilities also allow it to counter Melee and Magic Attacker at the same time. All in all, a solid card.
Dark Arborist
With Dark Arborist we have a typical card for the Death Splinter. It is a Magic Attacker from the middle mana range, which primarily weakens the opponent's monsters with its abilities. At the beginning, the card has the ability Demoralize to weaken opposing Melee Attackers, and the upgrade gives it the ability Magic Reflect to counter opposing Magic Attackers should they attack Dark Arborist. Furthermore, the card received another Magic Attack. Overall, I think this card is pretty solid and I think it will be played.
Commander Slade
Commander Slade is a massive melee attacker from the Water Splinter who should be played as a tank in the first position to play to his strengths. Thanks to the two abilities Enfeeble, which is quite new, and Dodge, he also counters enemy melee attackers. Thanks to the upgrade, the card got more stats for its tank trait and the ability Deflection, which I find very strong in certain matchups and is not too common. Overall a strong card, I used it a lot even before the upgrade.
Similar to the common cards, I also think that there are some strong cards in the rare cards. By the way, I also think that the Rebellion Reward Set is pretty balanced overall. There are some good cards, but also some not so good cards and the mix is very good. Among the rare cards from this first part, Commander Slade stands out the most in my opinion.

Nachdem ich alle common Karten aus dem Rebellion Reward Set auf Level 5 upgraden konnte (Teil 1 & Teil 2) sind als nächstes die rare Karten dran. Passend dazu habe ich mir einige Rare Draws mit meinen Glint kaufen können, die ich in den vergangenen @splinterlands Seasons ansparen konnte. Schauen wir uns mal an ob ich lucky war und die ein oder andere goldene Karten erhalten habe.
75k Glint habe ich ausgegeben, um mir 100 Rare Draws zu kaufen. Beim Öffnen habe ich natürlich Alchemy Potions verwendet, jedoch habe ich trotzdem lediglich zwei goldene Karten erhalten, was leider etwas enttäuschend ist. Aber primär sind mir Goldkarten nicht so wichtig, sondern eher dass ich möglichst viele verschiedene Karten bekomme, um diese upgraden zu können. Ihr könnt hier übrigens das Opening nochmal anschauen.
Durch die Karten, die ich erhalten habe, konnte ich schon ein paar der rare Karten upgraden. Wichtig zu betonen ist noch, dass ich meine rare Karten nur auf Level 4 upgrade, da ich keinen Summoner besitze, welcher ein höheres Level der rare Karten beschwören könnte. Dann mal los, sehen wir uns die rare Karten an, die ich auf Level 4 upgraden konnte.
Skyspire Leopard
Ein Karte mit sehr schönem Artwork aus dem Life Splinter ist Skyspire Leopard. Der Melee Attacker besitzt auf dem ersten Level noch keine Ability und nur durchschnittliche Stats, was ihn erst mal langweilig macht. Nachdem ich sie gelevelt habe, hat die Karte die Abilities Retaliate und Void Armor bekommen und einen weiteren Melee Attack. Aber auch das Upgrade macht die Karte meiner Meinung nach nicht wirklich interessant. Es ist ein mittelteurer Tank, der durch die Ability Reatliate Melee Attacker und durch die Ability Void Armor Magic Attacker kontert, aber dabei nichts besonders macht.
Razorhound
Typisch für das Water Splinter haben wir mit Razorhound einen relativ billigen Ranged Attacker erhalten. Durch die Ability Strengthen würde ich die Karte eher in die Supporter Kategorie stecken, welche aber auch selbst etwas Schaden anrichten kann. Dieser Schaden wird noch einmal durch die Ability True Strike, welche sie durch das Upgrade erhalten hat, bestätigt. Trotzdem muss ich sagen, dass ich die Karte nicht besonders gut finde. Dafür sind die Stats im allgemeinen etwas zu gering, und die Abilities sind auch nicht besonders gut.
Chaos Adjutant
Für das neutrale Splinter haben wir mit Chaos Adjutant einen Magic Attacker erhalten. Auf dem ersten Level wird die Karte vermutlich nicht sehr viel gespielt werden, da sie die unbeliebte Ability Scattershot besitzt. Durch das Upgrade kam noch die Ability Snare dazu, was sie in der Kombination vielleicht etwas interessanter macht, vor allem in Battles mit dem Earthquake Ruleset. Das ist aber meiner Meinung nach schon der einzige Usecase der Karte und daher finde ich sie nicht wirklich gut. Dafür finde ich das Artwork der Karte cool, immerhin etwas.
Quilliun Legionary
Eine vielseitig einsetzbare Karte ist Quilliun Legionary. Denn es ist ein Ranged Attacker aus dem Earth Splinter, der zwar einen nicht allzu hohen Angriff besitzt, dafür aber viele Lebenspunkte. In Kombination mit der Ability Close Range kann die Karte sowohl als hinterer als auch als vorderer Tank verwendet werden. Die beiden erhaltenen Abilities Thorns und Void unterstreichen noch einmal die defensiven Qualitäten der Karte. Durch die Abilities kontert sie außerdem Melee und Magic Attacker gleichzeitig. Insgesamt auf alle Fälle eine solide Karte.
Dark Arborist
Mit Dark Arborist haben wir eine typische Karte für das Death Splinter erhalten. Es ist ein Magic Attacker aus dem mittleren Manabereich, welcher vor allem die gegnerische Monster durch seine Abilities schwächt. Zu Beginn verfügt die Karte nämlich über die Ability Demoralize, um gegnerische Melee Attacker zu schwächen, und durch das Upgrade über die Ability Magic Reflect, um gegnerische Magic Attacker zu kontern, sollten diese Dark Arborist angreifen. Des Weiteren erhielt die Karte noch einen weiteren Magic Attack. Insgesamt finde ich auch diese Karte ziemlich solide und denke sie wird gespielt werden.
Commander Slade
Commander Slade ist ein massiver Melee Attacker aus dem Water Splinter, der als Tank in der ersten Position gespielt werden sollte, um seine Stärken auszuspielen. Denn er kontert dank den beiden Abilities Enfeeble, welche recht neu ist, und Dodge auch noch gegnerische Melee Attacker. Dank dem Upgrade erhielt die Karte weitere Stats für seine Tank Eigenschaft und die Ability Deflection, welche ich in bestimmten Matchups sehr stark finde und es nicht zu häufig gibt. Insgesamt eine starke Karte, ich habe sie schon vor dem Upgrade oft benutzt.
Ähnlich wie bei den common Karten bin ich auch bei den rare Karten der Meinung, dass hier einige starke Karten mit dabei sind. Übrigens denke ich auch, dass das Rebellion Reward Set insgesamt ziemlich ausgeglichen ist. Es sind einige gute Karten, aber auch nicht so gute Karten dabei und die Mischung ist sehr gut. Bei den rare Karten aus diesem ersten Teil sticht hier meiner Meinung nach vor allem Commander Slade heraus.

I am collecting quite a lot of Glint in my first days of play, do you recommend me to spend the points on opening rares only?
Hmm, I would say it depends. If you don't have many cards yet, I would definitely buy the draws, no matter which rarity you get. If you then play regularly and a lot, it can be smart to buy the rare cards with the Glint, as you get boxes from the leagues from which many common cards come. This is how you collect rare and common cards.
But basically I don't think you can do much wrong with the rare draws, as I said there are some good playable cards.
