after two weeks of trying out Splinterlands , here r some of my thoughts . this play-to-earn game gives u multiple ways of earning . one way includes the daily SPS token airdrop limited to 365 days , which makes it a good time to get into this game right now
Splinterlands is a play to earn collectible card game akin to an auto-battler where u set up a team that consists of a summoner card and monster cards and then u let them all battle it out on their own . lotsa fun ! u can play for free but u can earn more by buying a $10 spellbook which unlocks DEC tokens , ranked matches , trading cards in the marketplace , etc . the spellbook is needed for the 365-day daily SPS token airdrops while not needed if u just wanna stake the SPS tokens in-game
** SPS (splintershard) and DEC (dark energy crystal) tokens r actual cryptocurrencies and not fake in-game currencies , like world of warcraft gold or final fantasy gils . maybe some day in the future , traditional games will integrate blockchain technology to give their fake in-game currencies and items real world value .
MULTIPLE WAYS TO EARN IN AND OUT OF THE SPLINTERLANDS GAME:
- claiming SPS tokens that r staked in-game
- claiming SPS tokens from HIVE airdrops (limited time only)
- winning DEC tokens from ranked battles
- opening chest rewards from completing the daily quest , which may drop DEC tokens or high value cards . the higher your rank , the more chest rewards u get
- playing during each season , u get at least 5 chest rewards at the end of the season . the higher your rank , the more chest rewards u get
- selling your "owned" non-starter cards on the in-game marketplace or other third party marketplaces
- renting out your "owned' non-starter cards on the in-game marketplace or other third party marketplaces
- converting/destroying unwanted or any "owned" non-starter cards into DEC tokens
- joining in-game tournament events and placing at least in the top 20 depending on the tournament rules , will allow u to earn some rewards out of a prize pool
- buying and opening card packs may drop rare and unique cards , which can be valuable assets
- (unofficial) joining the vast Splinterlands community and partaking in their esports events or challenging their generous players who may reward u some SPS or DEC tokens .
why is this listed as a viable play-to-earn method ? cuz there's no other nft game that has built a vast following from 2018 (other than maybe Axie Infinity) , where their players r generous enuff to hold challenges and tournaments .
in Splinterlands , u can easily transfer SPS or DEC tokens between players and this allows the whole community to share the wealth , a new concept known as community revenue or global revenue as opposed to individual revenue , business revenue , or national revenue - (in the future) farming resources gathered from land u own .
