Hello there my Splinterlands Fam.
How are you today.? I hope you all are doing great.
With retiring the Share Your Battle weekly challenge, the Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge is live. I must say, the new challenge is much more competitive and challenging because it's not about a card but about a specific ruleset. And you have to fight more battles to pick one to share. Because not every time you will get the desired ruleset. Then again, it's not sure that you'll win that battle.
It's tough but it's fun writing though. I surely will miss the old Share Your Battle challenge.
This is the 12th week of this challenge and this week's Battle Mage Secrets challenge is about the Fog Of War ruleset.
Just like the previous challenges, in this blog, I'll discuss about the Fog Of War ruleset and share the best battle playing in this ruleset.
So, read on...
A Few Words About The Fog Of War Ruleset
In the Fog Of War ruleset, monsters on either team lose the sneak, Snipe, and opportunity abilities.
The snake and opportunity ability is the power key of the melee attack and so is the snipe ability for the ranged attack. Therefore, it's obvious that the best attack in this ruleset is magic (and/or the ranged attack).
But if you prefer a melee attack team, all you can do is use 1 or 2 'reach' monster/s. It can be a real challenge to win a battle in this ruleset if someone solely relies on a melee attack-based team.
Create a balanced team with melee, magic, and ranged attack monsters of their HP in ascending order.
My preferred way to play in this ruleset is to create a magic attack-based team, especially with Obsidian as the summoner, Mycelic Slipspwan as the tank, and use 2 or more 'tank heal' monsters like Wood Nymph, Goblin Psychic, and/or Khmer Princess.
If you're playing a low mana-cap battle in this ruleset, use a 'heal' monster with good HP and attack power as a main card and place a 'martyr' monster before him.
I shared a battle with a similar strategy below.
THE BATTLE
Now I'm sharing my strategy and the lineup for the best battle I won while the Fog Of War ruleset is active.
RULESETS
Mana Cap: 28
Rulesets:-
Rise Of The Commons: Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.
Fog Of War: Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity abilities.
Active Splinters: Fire, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon.
My Strategy and Team Setup
SUMMONER
Astral Entity
This is the first time I'm using this summoner and I'm impressed by its workability in melee attack-based battles. Though it has limited use in low mana-cap battles due to its high mana cost.
Team Setup
I took the great risk of using a high mana cost summoner and a melee attack-based team in this battle. Both these actions are against the ruleset and mana cap of this battle.
I used the Furious Chicken as the soft tank to soak the primary attack. I forgot that the Astral Entity has the 'resurrect' buff. So, it would be an appropriate move to use the Venari Marksrat as the soft tank and not the Furious Chicken. This could have given a double-martyr advantage to my main card the Haunted Spirit.
Anyway, in the 2nd and 3rd position, I placed the Venari Marksrat and the Haunted Spirit accordingly.
I used the 'reach' monster Spineback Wolf in the 4th position.
Two ranged attack cards, the Soul Strangler and the Supply Runner were placed in the 5th and 6th positions respectively.
Now, that my team is ready, let's charge into the battle.
Round 01
Round 02 / 03
Round 04 / 05

Analysis Of The Key Factors Of The Battle
The effective application of 'martyr' and 'heal' ability was the key to winning this battle.
Analyzing the team setup of my enemy, it is clear that he thought that I will use a magic attack team and was prepared for this. He didn't expect me to use a melee+ranged attack-based team. This is another factor that brings me this winning.
The 'martyr' ability of Venari Marksrat applies perfectly and the Haunted Spirit acts well as a tank while the rest of my team destroyed the enemy team.
It was a perfect strategy that brings me this winning.
And that's all for today, guys.
I hope you enjoyed reading this article. So, don't forget to keep me encouraged with your upvotes and comments.
I'm happy to share with you the strategy, and team combination as well as the gameplay of the good battles every week.
