Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is Fab Four.
In a Fab Four ruleset, only four units can be used in the battle.
Lets take a look at a Modern Silver ranked match with Fab Four as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Maneuvers, Fab Four and Noxious Fumes with a max mana of 59. All splinters are allowed in this battle except Dragon. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Lobb Lowland | 6 | Summoner | The moment I saw such it was a Fab Four and Noxious Fumes ruleset with such a high mana allowed, I decided to go for high mana units. With Noxious Fumes, I decided to go for the ever powerful Quora Towershead setup and so went with Lobb Lowland so I can summon Quora Towershead. |
Terraceous Hulk | 11 | 1st | Terraceous Hulk was placed as my main tank because it is a high armor and health unit with Taunt and more importantly Void Armor. The main objective of my Terraceous Hulk was to hold its position for a round or 2 so that Noxious Fumes could weaken my opponent's lineup without me doing much attack. |
Quora Towershead | 10 | 2nd | Quora Towershead was my main unit in this setup. Its Heal ability would allow it to heal itself from Noxious Fumes damage while still being able to deal some magic damage on the opponent front line. Quora was also able to hit from this 2nd position with its melee attack as Maneuvers ruleset gave its Reach. |
Fungus Flinger | 3 | 3rd | Fungus Flinger was there to die and boost my Quora and last unit with Martyr ability. Alternately one can also use another high mana unit here to attack instead but my focus in this battle was to outlast my opponent. |
Fresh Golem | 6 | 4th | Fresh Golem didn't look much use at this position but do note that it has Heal as well so it can last a long time in a Noxious Fumes ruleset. The exception would be sneak units but I wasn't expecting those sneak units as sneak units usually has low health and wouldn't be deployed in a Noxious Fumes fight. Also note that Maneuvers was also one of the ruleset and that gave Reach to Fresh Golem. |
Total Mana: | 36 |
Opponent Lineup:
My opponent also went with a full Earth splinter lineup with Lobb Lowland as the summoner and Quora Towershead as the main unit. My opponent lineup actually make better use of the mana (47) available whereas I only utilized 36 of the 59 available.
End of Round 1:
My tank was pretty beaten up after the end of round 1 whereas my opponent units were all full health. This was because my opponent placed a unit with Shield at the front while having a Taunt monster at the 2nd position to split my attacks. It was rather effective and things weren't looking good for me.
End of Round 2:
Things didn't get any better in round 2. I lost my tank and now Quora was at the tanking position while not on full health. My Quora did had the advantage of going first in the next round which would enable it to take out the opponent tank and get itself boosted.
End of Round 3:
Round 3 started with my Fungus Flinger dying to the Noxious Fumes and boosting my Quora and Fresh Golem. My boosted Quora then healed itself and killed my opponent tank which got it further boosted again. My Fresh Golem, now in the 2nd position, healed itself and also joined in the attack at this point. The enemy tank even missed its attack on my faster Quora and suddenly everything had turned into my favor.
End of Round 4:
The start of round 4 saw the enemy tank dying to Noxious Fumes. This prevented my Quora from another potential kill. Nevertheless, I had the upper hand now as now both sides had the same number of units left but my units are of higher stats and with Heal ability. Even if my opponent's Arkemis the Bear was of level 5, it wouldn't really change the outcome.
End of Round 5:
It was over in 5 rounds. My Quora killed off my opponent Quora and my Fresh Golem followed up by killing my opponent Arkemis the Bear. As you can see, a higher mana team doesn't necessary means it will always win the fight. Be flexible!
KEY STRATEGY
My strategy in this match was to try and outlast my opponent via using units either high armor and health or units with Heal ability. I also used unit with Martyr ability to further boost those units with Heal ability as you can heal more health if your units have higher max health.
