Splinterlands Auction Premiere: A Bidding War for the Ages

in Splinterlands2 months ago

As part of a special event, only one copy of the card Heloise the Hollow is auctioned each day for 100 days, making each auction a unique opportunity to secure this elusive card. Yesterday was the premiere of the auction system, and it was a thrilling event to "watch". The Auction House can be found here, and this is how the first day unfolded:

The auction opened calmly as bidder @melonman0 set the pace with a modest 20,000 DEC on November 6, 8:01 PM. Little did anyone know that this humble start would ignite a fierce competition, where rival biders would clash in a series of exhilarating, record-setting moves.

Moments later, @jedielf entered the fray, testing the waters with an initial 10,000 DEC. @melonman0 quickly raised his own bid to 30,000 DEC within seconds. These early bids began to turn heads, with @khazrakh storming in next, confidently raising the stakes to 180,000 DEC, escalating the energy of the room and prompting gasps from onlookers. Then, the mysterious @bulldog1205 stepped up, surging past everyone with 300,000 DEC, solidifying this auction as one to watch.

By 8:17 PM, @vugtis arrived with a calculated, incremental bid of 311,000 DEC. Sensing opportunity, he raised it again to 321,000 DEC, signaling he was ready for serious action. Then, just as quickly, the notorious @ghostlybg descended upon the auction with an eerie precision, landing at 666,666 DEC, a chilling and strategic bid that briefly held the spotlight.

But as the clock ticked into the evening, bids soared into unprecedented territory. The competition intensified at 8:55 PM with @vettev’s bold 800,000 DEC, sending a clear message that they intended to dominate. @mangowambo countered swiftly, breaking the million mark with 1,000,000 DEC, triggering an electric charge in the room. At this milestone, @ghostlybg returned for another round, narrowly edging past with 1,010,101 DEC, upping the drama with another symbolic play.

As night deepened, new contenders surged forward. @housewifeftw, relentless and strategic, placed 1,020,101 DEC with a clear intent to win. But just as he thought he’d secured the lead, @jarvie and @meredorn swooped in, pushing up to 1,035,101 DEC and 1,055,101 DEC, respectively. Each bid ricocheted through the crowd, with excited whispers speculating on who would hold their nerve.

The stakes kept climbing, as @quantumnachos entered at 1,069,420 DEC, only to be overtaken minutes later by @housewifeftw, now back in the action with 1,079,420 DEC. @jeffopenscards entered boldly at 1,089,420 DEC, but his moment was fleeting as the unstoppable @notaboutme surged to 1,337,000 DEC in the noon bidding of November 7.

Yet it was @housewifeftw, the tenacious bidder who had been there from early rounds, who returned with a decisive 1,347,000 DEC. At precisely 2:47 PM on November 7, he clinched the top spot, his bid echoing like a victory call that left the other bidders in awe. The competition came to a close, and the room buzzed with admiration and disbelief at the fierce dedication each participant displayed. With an unrivaled passion and precision, @housewifeftw emerged victorious, making this auction one for the history books in DEC lore!

Well done @housewifeftw! The first-ever minted Heloise the Hollow is rightfully yours!

As for the rest of the bidders, a battle was lost, but the war is not over yet!

After all they’d fought for, all they had lost, it couldn’t end like this. She wouldn’t let them have died for nothing. “Take them, then. Take them all.”
