For the Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge this week I will share some of my knowledge and wisdom in the game that involves utilizing Gold Foil cards which does not only shines on its appearance but also on the benefits it gives to the players. The spotlight for the engagement challenge this week is about sharing and giving some tutorials and tips from the Splinterlands Community where I will share some tips in the game which would give you extra rewards by utilizing Gold Foil cards. This tip would is very useful especially if you want to utilize the Gold Foil cards you have in your collection. These cards could be costly and quite difficult to collect, it brings additional firepower in the team and the rewards are also increased when these cards are deployed in the battlefield. I will talk more about the key advantages of collecting and utilizing Gold Foil cards in the game and I will also share an actual comparison of the rewards I got between winning a modern ranked battle utilizing every Gold Foil cards I have collected in the game and the rewards I got from also winning a modern ranked battle but only using regular foil cards I have in my collection. I will talk more about the key informations regarding the Gold Foil cards in the game and I hope that you will got a meaningful tips from this post and hopefully used it on your battles.
Gold Foil Cards
The cards in the game has two types of foil which are regular foil cards and gold foil cards. The regular foil cards are more probable to obtain from opening rewards chest, different types of packs, and Gladius Case in the game and these cards are also more cheaper than Gold Foil cards. On the other hand, Gold Foil cards are considered prestige in the game as the rate for these cards to obtain from opening packs, Gladius Case and rewards chest are very low. There are ways to obtain these cards in the game more possible by purchasing Gold Foil rarity draws inside the Glint shop and also by purchasing or obtaining Alchemy Option that increases the chance of getting Gold Foil cards when opening packs and rewards chest. For the Gladius Case, the Blood Stone is utilized to increase the chance of getting Gold Foil Gladius Cards which is very valuable in the game. As Gold Foil cards are considered valuable in the game it brings key benefits in the game such as multiplier on the winning rewards in ranked battles and the path to upgrade the Gold Foil cards to the maximum level is quite different from the Regular Foil cards. I will elaborate more about the difference in upgrading the regular foil cards and gold foil cards in the game.
Upgrading Gold Foil Cards
To give a clear illustration on the difference between upgrading the Gold Foil cards and Regular Foil cards in the game, I will use Pelacor Arbalest as an example for this detailed comparison. It is a rare light unit that belongs to the Chaos Legion set. This card is relatively affordable in the marketplace and it is also obtainable by purchasing and opening Chaos Legion packs in the game. As a rare life unit, it is commonly known to collect at least 115 regular foil copies of this unit in order to upgrade this card to its maximum level. However that is very much different from the Gold Foil version of this unit as it only takes 22 gold foil copies of this card in order to achieve its maximum level. That amount of difference in the cards required to upgrade this unit is significantly different as the chance and probability to obtain the Gold Foil copies of this card is very low making every upgrade of Gold Foil cards of this unit more meaningful and brings a sense of achievement.
Costs
I will also share and provide the comparison on the possible costs that you would take in order to upgrade the Pelacor Arbalest from level 1 to its maximum level on Regular Foil as well as the Gold Foil version of this card where it would start from level 2 going up to level 8 as well. The costs would be based on purchasing cards in the marketplace that is currently listed as of this writing. The prices may become different on the upcoming days, which is why it could be used as reference when you are deciding to upgrade Regular Foil or Gold Foil cards of this unit. It may be different on the number of cards needed to upgrade this card to higher level but the amount of stats and abilities it would unlock as it levels up remains similar. It is on your decision on what path would you take when you want to power up this unit on higher levels.

The table above shows the cost comparison of upgrading Pelacor Arbalest from Level 1 to 2, Level 1 to 3, Level 1 to 4, Level 1 to 5, Level 1 to 6, Level 1 to 7 and Level 1 to 8. The cost on the table is based from purchasing multiple level 1 copies of this card which may be not cost efficient, which is why this table could only be used as a reference when deciding to upgrade the regular foil or the gold foil version of this card. Nevertheless the difference in the cost is definitely noticeable from the table but it is important to consider that gold foil cards are normally expensive when it is purchased from the marketplace due to its low acquisition rate. The cost when upgrading gold foil cards to higher levels would be more lower if these gold foil copies of this card would be obtained through opening packs where the chances to obtain a gold foil card can be further enhanced using Alchemy Potions. Lastly owning a maxed level Gold Foil cards makes the value of your overall collection more invaluable and it should bring a source of achievement on the player.
My Battles
This is one of the modern ranked battle that I want to share where I was able to showcase all the Gold Foil units in my collection that is available for this match. I did not just select all of the Gold Foil units that I have for this match without building a good team synergy between all of the units I had in this match. I have also used my Gold Foil summoner in this match which allows me to used upgraded units in this match, which is already satisfied by my Gold Foil units since they are already leveled up upon acquisition. The rewards I got from winning this modern ranked battle is significantly high since I have a 70% bonus on the rewards from using Gold Cards in this match which also includes the bonus when using a Gold Foil summoner. This is the second modern ranked battle that I also want to share where I was able to secure the victory using only Regular Foil cards for this match. I have also used a leveled up summoner in this match that also allows me to used my upgraded units such as Goblin Psychic. The stats of my upgraded units is similar to the stats of the Gold Foil ones which makes them equal based on power and effectivity in the battle. The key difference between the rewards I got from the previous modern ranked battle victory from the winnings on this one is that I did not have the Gold Cards bonus which makes the SPS rewards more lower. Based on the rewards I got from the previous modern ranked battle where I utilized the Gold Foil cards I have in the collection, the SPS rewards I got from that match is almost doubled compared to this match where I only utilized Regular Foil Cards. This comparison simply shows that Gold Foil cards does not only have aesthetic difference from Regular Foil cards but also brings additional rewards when the battle is won. Additional notes that would've been cool to know: How they work for land, and how long it might take to amortize the cost with the bonus they give (which is complicated, since it's taking into account the league and the SPS staked - but a showcase).
