Hello Splinterlands Community! It is another exciting week as it is the first edition of Splinterlands Social Media Challenge for the year 2025. For this new year I will continue to provide and share some of my insights in the game which I believe would be helpful to the players and to the Splinterlands community. This week, I will share some of my thoughts and knowledge regarding a certain ability in the game that is very strong and powerful in my opinion and only selected units in the game has given this capability. The ability that I am talking about is the Blast ability which is an exciting and powerful ability that allows the unit to deal additional damage to the adjacent units of the target enemy unit. This ability is very useful on battles especially if the enemy team has deployed low health units as they will become very vulnerable to be taken down with the help of the Blast ability. I am also using my units that has this ability on my battles and guild brawls whenever possible. This ability is proven to be strong and could be a game changer in the match which is why it is good to become aware of the units that has this powerful ability. I will continue to talk about the units in the game that has the Blast ability and I am hoping that this post will give you some good thoughts and ideas about utilizing the units in the game with this ability in your battles as I believe that Blast ability would not only help you to climb up on your ranks but also help you to win tournaments and Guild Brawls.
Blast Ability
This ability allows the unit to deal additional damage to the adjacent units of the target unit. This damage is 50% of the original damage that is being dealt to the target enemy monster. This ability is super effective against enemy team composition that has a lot of low health units that are deployed as the effects of the Blast ability can potentially take down those units especially if the unit with the Blast ability deals a lot of damage to the target enemy unit. It also makes durable enemy units to be soften as the Blast ability would inflict damages to those units and by the time they reach the first position of their team it would be much more vulnerable. This ability is works very well with other different abilities in the game such as Opportunity, Snipe, Sneak, Scattershot, Bloodlust and so much more. On the abilities that I have mentioned, the Opportunity and Bloodlust ability are very favorable for me as the Bloodlust ability gives the unit an overall buff on its existing stats every time the unit was able to take down an enemy monster which is very much possible with the help of Blast ability. On the other hand, the Opportunity allows the unit to prioritize the enemy monster with the lowest amount of health which is usually placed in the backline where the Blast ability is more destructive as it allows the possibility of having 3 enemy units to take damage from a single strike of the unit that has this ability.
Blast Units
These are the cards in the game that has the Blast ability at level 1. There are other units in the game that obtains the Blast ability as the unit's level increases. The units with the Blast ability comes from different sets in the game such as Rewards, Chaos Legion, Rebellion, Gladius and more. Some of the units are also very accessible and more achievable acquire to the players as there are common and rare units in the game that has the Blast ability at level 1 which allows the players to experience and try out how powerful and destructive this ability. Majority of the units that has the Blast ability at level 1 have high mana cost which is very much reasonable since having Blast ability at level 1 gives the unit an edge over other units considering the effects that this ability have. Being that said, there are also other units that has the Blast ability at level 1 which does not have high mana cost but they are mostly vulnerable units that should be placed carefully in the team composition. I am currently building my collection on the units in the game with the Blast ability and based on the figure that I shared above, I have only limited units with this ability at level 1 that is playable on my matches which is why if I have a match where the Blast units are favorable, I make sure to utilize those units in order to give me a better chance to win the battle.
Marketplace
I am also going to share the current price of the cards in the game that has the Blast ability on the marketplace inside the game as of this writing in order to give you some idea and insights in case you are planning to purchase these cards and include them into your card collection. Based on the figure above, I can say that most of the cards with the Blast ability are very affordable as the current lowest listing in the marketplace was $0.02 for a level 1 Goblin Tower which is a rare earth card in the Chaos Legion set or a level 1 Exploding Rats which is also a rare card that comes from the Rewards Chaos Legion set. There are also units in the figure above that does not have the Blast ability initially at level 1 but as those units are upgraded to higher level they would be able unlock the Blast ability. I mostly utilized the common and rare units with the Blast ability in my battles which is why I think that it is worthy to invest on the units that has this ability and some of these units can also be obtained and collected through purchasing different set of packs in the game which could contain a unit that has the Blast ability as well as collecting merits in order to purchase a Gladius Case and hoping to acquire the legendary water unit Flagulon Reine that has the Blast ability which compliments very well with the Bloodlust ability.
There is also an alternative option if you have a tight budget on DEC or credits and that is to rent these cards with the Blast ability if you are planning to utilize these cards in your battles without adding it permanently into your collection. This option is a great alternative if you are currently saving up some DEC or credits since renting these cards would be more affordable and achievable for some players. It is also a good way to check and try out if you can utilize properly these cards in your battles as these units requires a good team planning and decision making in order to maximize and utilize the destructiveness of the Blast ability from these units. There are also times where I am renting these cards in order to check out how effective this cards would be on my team composition and also to help me decide if it is worth to invest on the unit.
My Battles
This is the modern ranked battle that I want to share in this post where I was able to display the destructive power of the Blast ability from one of my units in my collection that has this ability which is Riverboat Captain. The Blast ability of this unit was a huge help in this match as it was able to deal additional damage to the enemy unit that is adjacent to the Cursed Windeku which is the Life Sapper. The additional damage coming from the Blast ability cancels out the effectiveness of the Life Leech ability from that unit.
