Hello Splinterlands Community, for this week I will share my personal insights about Gelatinous Cube which is a solid frontline unit that thrives whenever a monster was taken down in the battlefield.
About Gelatinous Cube
Gelatinous Cube is a common neutral unit that does not deal any damage at all and also belongs to the Rewards Set. The lowest price for a regular foil card is currently at $0.351 while the gold foil card is currently listed at $6.80 on the marketplace as of this writing. It is more expensive compared to other reward cards in the game because it is not currently obtainable on the reward chests. This card also has a good flexibility as it can be used in most battles being a neutral card.
The figure above shows the complete stats of Gelatinous Cube from level 1 up to its maximum level of 10. It is a bit tougher to upgrade this card considering the price of this card on the marketplace. Based on the figure above, I can say that upgrading this card to Level 6 would be nice to unlock its second ability which is Heal. That ability restores some health to this unit every round if ever it takes a damage. It makes this unit not only durable because of its Scavenger ability but also sustainable with the help of the Heal ability. Reaching the maximum level of this card would be difficult but should be rewarding as it gets another ability which is Void. That ability reduces the magic damage this unit would receive from the enemy team. The combination of the 3 abilities on its maximum level makes this unit indestructible especially against magic damage monster opponents.
Rulesets
Gelatinous Cube is a great frontline card that can be used in battles. It has a good and useful ability that makes this card more durable as the match progresses. This card could be more effective when it is played on the right rulesets in the game where its ability and durability would be utilized very well. That is the reason why I will share some rulesets in the game which I believe is suitable for Gelatinous Cube.
Keep your Distance
This ruleset is applicable for Gelatinous Cube. It does not allow melee monsters to be able to use in the battle which makes ranged monsters and magic damage monsters as well as non damage monsters like Gelatinous Cube only available in the battle. The Gelatinous Cube will serve as the frontline unit in this kind of battle because ranged monsters should not be placed in the first position unless it has the close range ability and a good amount of health.
Noxious Fumes
This ruleset favors with Gelatinous Cube, this ruleset causes all monsters in the battlefield to take 2 damage each round unless it has the immunity ability which makes the unit immune to to this ruleset, it can also be avoided of the unit had been targeted by the cleanse ability from the team . The death of all monsters in both teams are beneficial for Gelatinous Cube since it would trigger the Scavenger ability which makes this card more durable with the amount of health it would receive from the Scavenger Ability.
Earthquake
This ruleset also favors well with Gelatinous Cube, this ruleset causes all monsters in the battlefield to take 2 damage every round except all the units that has the flying ability . This ruleset has similarities with the Noxius Fumes, the only difference between the two is that the earthquake damage destroys armors first before inflicting damage to the enemy health and the damage from the earthquake could be reduced if the unit has the Shield ability that can reduce the effects from the eathquake.
Armored Up
This ruleset also fits very well with Gelatinous Cube, it gives +2 armor to all monsters in the battlefield at the start of the match. This makes Gelatinous Cube more durable and more efficient as a frontline unit for the team. The armor buff would complement the great amount of health this unit have as well as its ability which increases the health of this unit throughout the battle.
Summoners
Choosing the summoner to play with Gelatinous Cube needs some careful planning and good understanding on the rulesets present in the match as well as the mana available. Since Gelatinous Cube is a neutral unit, it can be deploy using any element that is available in the match as long as the dragon element is present. I mostly use Chaos Legion Cards, Gladius Cards, Reward Cards and some starter cards that are playable in the game in my battles which is why I am going to share my personal picks on the summoners that belongs in those sets that I previously mentioned where I am familiar with and have experienced playing it on ranked battles in different occasions, which I think should be the best choice whenever you plan to use Gelatinous Cube in the battle.
Tarsa
This summoner is a good choice whenever you will use Gelatinous Cube in battles. This summoner gives +1 melee damage and +1 health to your team at the start of the match. The melee damage buff would not be effective for Gelatinous Cube because it does not deal any damage at all, while the health buff from this summoner would be useful for Gelatinous Cube as it increases the durability of this unit and makes it more efficient as the frontline for the taem.
Kelya Frendul
This water summoner is also a good choice when using Gelatinous Cube in the battle. It gives +1 armor and +1 speed buff to all your units at the beginning of the match. The speed buff from this summoner is not useful for this unit because it is not an offensive monster, while the armor buff is useful for Gelatinous Cube since it gives additional layer of defense that can absorb melee and ranged damages from the enemy team.
Mother Khala
Lastly, this life summoner would probably be the best choice when using Gelatinous Cube in battles. It grants +1 health to all your units at the start of the match and only costs 3 mana. Just like Tarsa, the health buff from this summoner would help Gelatinous Cube to survive longer in the match and it also complements very well with Scavenger Ability wherein it also grants health to Gelatinous Cube whenever a monster was taken down on the battlefield.
My Battle
This is the ranked battle I want to share where I used my Gelatinous Cube and other fire monsters available to win this battle. I used Pyre as my summoner in this battle because the Silenced Summoner ruleset is present in the match where summoners does not give any buffs to the team. The Noxious Fumes ruleset was devastating for monsters that does not have the Immune ability or affected by a cleanse ability. The scavenger ability from this monster was activated multiples time that makes Gelatinous Cube tough to deal with. This whole match can seen by opening the click below.
