image.png

Hello Splinterlands Community! It is another exciting week as it is time again for a new edition of Splinterlands Social Media Challenge for this new year. I will continue to share some of my insights and ideas in the game which I think would be very helpful and beneficial to the players and to the Splinterlands community and I hope that my previous entries for the Splinterlands Social Media challenge were able to give the players some new ideas and knowledge in the game. For the Splinterlands Social Media Challenge for this week, I will share one of my goals for this new year which is to try out the latest abilities that was added in to the game. These abilities are very useful and powerful especially if it is utilized very well in the match. As an experienced and veteran player in the game, I am quite familiar with the most common abilities in the game that I usually encounter when facing opponents with upgraded units on higher ranks, however as the game continues to get better and introduce interesting abilities in the game. I am starting to become not aware on some of these abilities that were already existing and added in the game moreover there is also some cases that I am encountering a brand new skill in the game during ranked battles that is first to me. This is why one of the goals I have set for this new year is to check out these new abilities and provide some insights as well as my opinions on how effective and powerful these abilities in the battlefield. I will continue to talk more about the list of abilities that I am targeting to check out for this new year and also I will also share the units that currently possess these abilities.

I want to get familiarize on how these abilities works during the match and also to discover the units and team compositions that will works best using the units that has these abilities. Since the year has just started, I have plenty of time to experiment and study these abilities in order to create a team composition that would utilize the effects of the abilities very well. I am also planning to study more new abilities in the game after I have familiarized with these 5 abilities so that I would not miss out on the recent abilities that has been added in the game. It would also become very beneficial for me to understand how these abilities work so that if I encounter the units that has these abilities on my battles, I would not be ignorant on how these abilities work and I can set my expectations on what will happen as the match progresses. I will now share the units in the game that has these abilities and writing this entry also gives me new ideas and knowledge since I am not quite familiar that these units have these abilities and it would be very exciting for me to try out the ability from these units in the battlefield.

The Units

Blasphemy of Uul

image.png

There is only one unit in the game that currently possess the Blasphemy of Uul ability and that is Elanor Bravefoot. It is a legendary neutral unit that deals ranged damage to the enemy team and it belongs to the Rebellion Set. This unit does not cost any mana to be deployed in the battlefield which makes it very valuable to collect. This unit has debilitations which is Weary wherein this unit has the possibility to become exhaust every round and when this unit does get exhausted, it would not be able to deal damage and would skip the current round. Upgrading this unit to level 2 now unlocks a very powerful ability and that is the Blasphemy of Uul which gives bonus ranged damage to this unit for every unit that has the name of Fiend was deployed in the team. It makes Elanor Bravefoot more powerful and destructive in the battlefield as there are a lot of units in the game that has the Fiend on their name such as Torrent Fiend, Soul Fiend, Fungus Fiend and etc.

Cleanse Rearguard

image.png

There is also only one unit in the game that currently has the Cleanse Rearguard ability and it is Sanctus Vicar. It is a water and fire rare unit that also deals ranged damage to the enemy team and it belongs to the Rebellion Set as well. This unit is very flexible to be deployed in the battlefield as it is available for water and fire summoners in the game. It has the Cleanse Rearguard ability which cleanses the last allied backline unit that was affected by a magic debuff. This is very useful in the match especially if the unit that was affected by the magic debuff is the main damage dealer for the team. The ability is the opposite of the Cleanse ability which also cleanses the unit that was affected by a magic debuff but the main difference is that the Cleanse ability only works on the unit that is placed in the first position of the team. This makes the Cleanse and Cleanse Rearguard abilities a good combination to check out in the battlefield since they work together very well.

Impede

image.png

image.png

There are two units in the game that currently have the Impede ability which are Risqruel Drath and Meriput Slinger. Risqruel Drath is a fire and earth legendary summoner that is from the Rebeliion Set. It provides bonus ranged damage to every ranged units deployed in the team at the start of the match as well as the Flying ability to all units in your team. Additionally, there is an ability choice that will be selected at the beginning of the match where there are two options to choose from which are Impede and True Strike ability that can be applied to 2 ally units or the Taunt and Redemption ability that can be applied to a single ally unit. The Meriput Slinger on the other hand is a rare death unit that deals ranged damage to the enemy team. This unit has the Impede ability which reduces the speed of the target enemy monster every time it was attacked by this unit. Since this unit has a great amount of speed it would be able to not only deal ranged damage to the enemy unit but also reduces its speed making that unit to strike later in the round. This ability would be very effective against enemy units that has a great amount of speed.

Deathblow

image.png

There is also only one unit in the game where the Deathblow is possible to play with and it is from the Nidhoggr. It is a legendary dragon summoner from the Rebellion set as well. It is a very costly summoner that has a mana cost of 10 and it gives -1 armor and -1 health to all enemy units at the start of the match. This summoner also has a debilitation which is the Force Reduction that reduces the maximum size for the team by 1 for the match. Just like Risqruel Drath, this summoner also has an ability choice at the beginning of the match where there are also two options which are the Blast and Deathblow ability that can be applied to 3 ally units or the Execute ability plus 2 speed that can also be applied to 3 ally units as well. These buffs compensates the debilitation that this summoner brings to the team since the abilities mentioned are very powerful and destructive in the battlefield. This makes the Deathblow ability applicable to every units in the game as long as the Nidhoggr was the chosen summoner for the match and the Blast and Deathblow ability was chosen at the beginning of the match.

Spite

image.png

There is also only one unit in the game that currently has the Spite ability and that is Heloise The Hollow. It is a legendary death and earth unit that comes from Rebellion set as well. It deals a massive amount of melee damage making it a great damage dealer for the team however it would take a lot of mana in order to deploy this unit in the battlefield. This unit has the Opportunity ability which makes this unit prioritize the enemy monster that has the lowest amount of health and that monster will definitely be taken down with the units massive damage output. It also has the Taunt ability that causes every enemy units to prioritize this unit each round. This ability is complimented very well with the Spite ability as this ability causes the unit to counterattack on the enemy unit that was able to take down this unit. It ensures that the enemy monster that defeated Heloise The Hollow would go down as well thanks to the massive amount of melee damage from this unit.

My Battle

image.png

This is the modern ranked battle that I want to share in this post where I was able to experience and try out the power of the Deathblow ability with the help of the Nidhoggr summoner. I have chosen the Blast and Deathblow ability at the beginning of the match which I applied to my 3 units that deals a great amount of damage for this match. The overwhelming damage buff from the Deathblow ability was showcased on the last part of the match wherein the remaining enemy unit which was Venari Scout has been taken down with an insane amount of damage because of this ability. If you are interested on all of the action and exciting exchanges from both teams that occur during this match, you can all witness it by clicking the battle link below.
