This season I have been utilising increased SPS rentals to try and increase returns with my Modern Deck using Liquid SPS for the majority of the week and toward the end of the week when I am in profit, I look to increase my SPS staked again.
So far things have been going well and I am happy with the progress so far as I find myself in Gold 2 and I am working toward Gold 1. If I manage to settle in Gold 1 then I will look to increase my SPS rental a little further to push earning rewards to the 10x mark.
How has it worked?
I began with renting 60k SPS costing a total of 420 DEC so I am initially looking to recoup this cost.
Over the course of the week, I have added in some daily rentals as well as some seasonal rentals. At the time of writing, I am renting 68 Dec a day.
So far, I am looking to break into 1k SPS staked and I will have this achieved before the end of this SPS rental. Tomorrow I will be renting again and I am looking forward to sharing the actual earnings figures once I have it all analysed.
One aspect I have enjoyed is having a selection of Gold Foil cards to call upon to boost earnings in game and this is seen in the following battle.

Are you not entertained?
You can summon a Gladius card.
Elements available
I like the option of Life and Water here both give great options for damage in the Blast ruleset. A healthy mana amount to utilise some good cards here too... exciting times ahead.
Lineups
General Sloan
Gold Foil at the highest level I need, this is a good choice for my lineup as I want to take advantage of the Life deck for the Gladius options available. I hope to add in some good ranged damage so this makes perfect sense here.
Drybone Barbarian
Strong melee damage and great health. The Enrage ability makes this a nasty card to deal with in Blast as it increases the damage output along with speed. With no armour, there is a significant risk to this card without any healing. Something which I will need to manage in this lineup for sure. This is an awesome card and if it can get a Retaliate away at the opponent, it will cause some devastating damage in this ruleset.
Venari Marksrat
By using Venari Marksrat in this position I am waiting for Blast damage to hit so I can use the Martyr ability to buff my first position Drybone Barbarian as well as my next card which will be a Gladius to really capitalise on the extra damage possibilities.
Captain Katie
I was fortunate to recently open a Gold Foil Captain Katie which matches my current level card. Now I get to reap the benefits of a Gold Foil boost to earnings with a really strong Gladius card. With the magic damage, I am hoping to cut through the opposing lineup and potential kill off more than one card at a time to get the Bloodlust juices pumping. The Snipe ability means this should hit the middle of their lineup, causing maximum damage. Snipe and Blast is a devastating combination. This is the card my lineup is built around here.
Meriput Magician
Additional magic damage is nice but I could do with some healing. Drybone Barbarian is going to take a beating at the front and I could do with some heal. With three speed it is decently fast for a magic ccard and I aim to increase that where possible.
Venari Crystalsmith
A great healing card and I hope to keep the Drybone Barbarian alive as long as possible withe double Tank Heal on offer here. Boosted to three damage by General Sloan, this is a capable ranged attacker with healing utility.
Supply Runner
Swiftness is key and with this card, I am hoping to increase the speed of my lineup to give me the advantage of speed over my opponent. With good damage and excellent speed, I am hoping to capitalise. For six mana I can't go wrong with this card. It is one I use regularly especially with my Life and Water teams. The additional damage boost from General Sloan will also be very useful here too, taking it to four damage per turn.
Opposing Lineup
Kelya Frendul
Speed is the name of the game for Kelya Frendul and that makes this a great choice in Blast rulesets as the more damage you can get out of the gate early in the battle, the better things usually are. The additional armour provided will be a small issue but I don't forsee this to be a major issue. There are some excellent cards I hope to not see in this battle which will be eligible due to the the Water team being in play.
Coastal Sentry
A superb choice with the Double Strike and excellent damage on offer. This is a fast card and it will cause trouble unless it is removed quickly. An excellent choice and one I enjoy playing when the ruleset allows it.
Venari Marksrat
I think this is excellent placement and a great card choice. I am not expecting this card to cause damage trouble like my own but this will empower the adjacent cards so getting the tank off the board early is important here.
Deeplurker
A dangerous card and a favourite of mine. Fortunately it is not at a level where it gains Poison but fast and powerful as a melee attacker. A great chocie of card.
Isgald Vorst
A great Gladius card but I personally would have tried to Martyr the Venari Marksrat next to this. That would have given this extra stats and made it even more of a threat should it get a Bloodlust moving.
Mad Ogre Anarchist
A very strong theme of Opportunity cards on offer here and this is something quite threatening as they will blood hunt the weakest links in my lineup. Hopefully I can keep the attention toward my backline and away from my tank and Captain Katie.
Coastal Nymph
Scattershot is quite a useful ability and when it strikes the one opponent you want it to it is amazing. It does seem like it hits the card I don't want it to when I use it myself. Combined with Opportunity this could be the game changer. I'd love to take this out quickly and without too much stress or damage.
Round 1
Huge damage right out of the gate with Supply Runner removing armour and the Deeplurker striking the Venari Marksrat giving my team the Martyr. Drybone Barbarian then strikes back with a huge nine damage strike and Captain Katie ready to strike back with four magic damage.
Round 2
In this round the damage is already done. Retaliate is powerful and with both Supply Runner protected and Captain Katie backing up Drybone Barbarian, the opponent has lost.
Overall, I am really glad I managed to grab Captain Katie in Gold Foil. It makes these kinds of battles much more enjoyable knowing I am boosting earnings when she is being used as opposed to using Gladius cards and losing the boosts I get for having an alternative Gold Foil option.
So far, I am really enjoying this season and I have played every battle manually throughout. This is the most engaged I have been in Splinterlands gameplay in a long time. I am happy to be back and fully focused.
Earning a total of 4.291 SPS for the battle this is the highest battle earning I have managed thus far in Splinterlands and why I want to stay within Modern moving forward.
This post is a 100% Power Up Post and is the fourth of ten in a row. I am committed to the Splinterlands community and Hive and hope that by completing at least ten in a row powered up, I can work back to a more positive standing as far as earnings are concerned. In addition, only HBD earned from any future posts will be used to boost assets on Hive.
