Hello everyone,
here is my entry for this week's weekly battle challenge by Splinterlands
The card for this week is the Chaos Knight:
It is a 6 mana shield tank with decent armor and HP. I mainly use it either as a second tank in higher mana battles or as a main tank on lower mana ones, like the one I got for you this time.
Here is a link to the game that I am featuring if you prefer to watch it play out yourself. On to the breakdown of the match and the strategy I used for it.
The ruleset is as follows:
24 mana cap, only common and rare monsters and no snipe or sneak. Life, water and dragon splinters available.
When there is no snipe and sneak I tend to go with my life deck because it's main vulnerability is sneak attacks, because most cards are slow and low HP and they get picked out sometimes even before getting an attack off.
Here is my lineup for the fight:
As a summoner I go with General Sloan which I got at level 3
That allows me to use up to level 4 commons and level 3 rares for this match.
For first position and a main tank I went with Chaos Knight mainly for the shield ability which should make him take quite some beating, I got him at level 4 which gives him that extra 1 damage and 1 more hp.
Second position is Truth Speaker for that nice 2 armor buff I got her level 1 from the starter deck
Third up is the Pelacor Arbaliest which I also use as a level 1 only, he goes in every time I can fit him within the mana because with the buff from Sloan he is a 6 damage per round card
The following spots I fill with as many small archer monsters I can get to utilize and maximise the Sloan buff so up next is the Xenith Archer
After that the Herbalist
And because I had 1 more mana I threw in the Chaos Agent which I have at level 4 for the dodge
Putting him last in this game was a major mistake that I realized after I submitted, he had to be my second position because there is no sneak, but that goes to show how much I am thinking about sneak in every game I play life.
So to sum up, we go with a beefy tank, throw in the fortify for more armor to make it survive even longer and load up with as much archers as possible to use the Sloan +1 ranged damage buff and hope for the best.
On to the game itself
The opponent is also going life but with a different strategy. I think he made a mistake by using that high cost taunt tank when everything will be attacking the tank anyway, he was probably afraid of a water opportunity play so that's why he went on that route. We have the exact same damage so the tanks will be deciding the game. By the end of round one both our tanks had 3 hp left but we got the shield so we are in much better shape.
Round 2, Chaos Knight attacks firs and kills off his tank, from that point on the game is almost done, his remaining 2 archers that are able to attack, the Arbalest and the Crystalsmith manage to kill our Chaos Knight but it was too little too late, our backline finishes off his herbalist and Crystalsmith which leaves the Arbalest alone in first position
This concludes the match.
So this was the game I got for you. As I already mentioned I misplaced the Chaos Agent which had to be the second position for this fight, which might have costed me the game but not this time I guess. The Chaos Knight is a very strong card with a very big potential in the higher leagues, because of the giant slayer it gets. As the game progresses we will be seeing even more and more high mana cards which will be susceptible to that ability which for the time being is being largely ignored and undervalued. That is definitely a thing to watch for from an investment and gameplay perspective. Thanks to everyone that took the time of their day to check out my post.
Have a nice day and stay positive!
