Hello Battle Mages!
Welcome to another Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge. For this challenge, we are going to discuss the Ferocity where a monster with taunt ability will received a double damage from the attack as all monsters will have the fury ability. In this ruleset, strategy using taunt is not feasible.
For those who are new to my post, I usually post information about Gold Modern league which I usually play in rank, brawl and tournament.
🗣️ Ruleset: Ferocity
Consideration
In the Ferocity ruleset, the main keypoint is to not use any monsters with taunt ability as this can be easily defeated because it will received a double damage from the attack. This ruleset simply removes the taunt, heal, repair strategy where a strong tank unit can be able to sustain the frontline while backline attacker deals the damage itself.
This is a good opportunity to show different playstyle using a mixed of frontal and backline attack, use of opportunity and snipe harnessing different abilities avaialble in your deck.
Simply avoid using monsters with taunt ability is the keyword when ferocity ruleset appears.
🗣️ Cards
Suggested Cards
In terms of summoners in modern, since this ruleset simply provides extra damage against taunt monsters. I believe that any summoner is a good choice in this battle. Try to check the other one or two ruleset when selecting the appropriate summoner to play the ferocity ruleset properly.
In choosing the monsters, any monsters is feasible except for below monsters which have the taunt ability. This provides a big disadvantage to any player when selected.
Disadvantage Cards
As mentioned, the disadvantage card in this ruleset is simply those with taunt ability. Please avoid in using them during team selection.
🗣️ Battle Strategy
I will share some of my strategy for the fog of war which may be a little different on the approach such as sustain in the frontline.
Battle
Rules of Combat
Modifications: Ferocity, Explosive Weaponry
Mana Cap: 55
Playable Splinters: All Splinters
Team Composition
Given that all splinter are available and with the ferocity and explosive weaponry ruleset combination, the use of taunt + Reflection shield is not possible in which in this case due to the ferocity. I use two monster with reflection shield protecting blast damage in the frontline and in the backline.
- Summoner: Quix as the summoner and chosen water as the secondary summoner in order to summon two monster with Reflection Shield ability. This also helps in reducing range damage and speed which is a factor in explosive weaponry ruleset.
- 1st Position: Djinn Chwalla in the first position for its thorns damage and a high attack that can be further enhanced by enrage.
- 2nd Position: Tide Biter acts to prevent blast damage in the second position as well as providing extra damage in the frontline because of the reach ability.
- 3rd Position: Deeplurker is in the third position which do have the opportunity attack that can be use in the backline and can benefit on the blast damage.
- 4th Position: Runemancer Kye which provides an advantage as well in the battle due to its life leech ability.
- 5th Position: Oshuur Constantia on this case use the reflection shield as protection in the backline specifically for sneak attack.
- 6th Position: Runic Skyclaw on the other hand also provides a good advantage because of the snipe ability that may attack enemies in the backline.
Battle Analysis
Looking at the composition of both team, both team does not use any taunt monster even there is a explosive weaponry ruleset because of avoiding the Ferocity effect which technically destroy taunt monsters.
In terms of the positioning, my opponent prioritize speed which is why there is a boost from Jacek, Sinash and Supply Runner. The opponent also use Jacek scattershot to eliminate monsters in the backline. This is a good choice to be honest and with Venator Kinjo in the second position prevents blast damage from the frontline.
The snipe attack from Runic Skyclaw provides a big advantage in this battle due to the blast effect from the backline.
🗣️ Closing Remarks
In playing ferocity ruleset, just play based on your playstyle but avoid using monsters with taunt ability. The best way is to consider other ruleset in doing the team composition then replace the monster you choose if there is taunt ability.
