Hello Battle Mages!
It has been a while but I am writing again to participate in the weekly challenge.
Welcome to another Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge. For this challenge, we are going to discuss the Heavy Hitters where all monsters have the knock out ability. In this case, a monster with the stun ability provides a damage multiplier once the target is stunned.
For those who are new to my post, I usually post information about Gold Modern league which I usually play in rank, brawl and tournament.
😵💫 Ruleset: Heavy Hitters
Consideration
Most players may disregard the heavy hitters ability as this only serves as an additional damage multiplier to those monsters in the stun status. The reason that players may ignore this effect is because of the needed prerquisite which is a monster should be in the stun status and we know that stun effect is only chances. It may seems to be optional to consider but given the fact that it provides extra damage, this may still plays an important fact.
In the Heavy Hitters ruleset, the main keypoint is to use a monster with the stun ability. This means that this monster is the catalyst in order to deal a double damage from the heavy hitters ruleset.
In choosing a monster with the stun ability, I would say that one consideration is to ensure that the monster you have selected with the stun ability will be able to hit the target. It is very useless if your monster have a stun ability but keeps on missing the target. So one consideration to look is the type of monster, a magic monster do have a 100% chance to hit the target except if there is a phase ability on the target, both melee and range monster may missed the target depending on the speed and other abilities that may affect the hit/miss calculation (blind, dodge, flying).
This simply means that hitting a monster is the first thing, inflicting stun effect is the second thing and hitting the monster with the stun status is the last thing in order to inflict a heavy damage. This is the reason that most of the players may take this ruleset for granted.
😵💫 Cards
Suggested Cards
In terms of summoners in modern, since this ruleset simply provides extra damage against stun monsters. I believe that any summoner is a good choice in this battle. Try to check the other one or two ruleset when selecting the appropriate summoner to play the heavy hitter ruleset properly.
In choosing the monsters, in order to play the heavy hitters choose a monster with the stun ability. Below are the monsters in modern format with stun ability.
Disadvantage Cards
There is no disadvantage card in this battle except those monsters who barely hit the target which is dependent on each battle type, ruleset, card level and other status effect.
😵💫 Battle Strategy
In this battle, I will share how is the effect of the knock out on the stunned monsters.
Battle
Rules of Combat
Modifications: Heavy Hitters, Counterspell, Even Stevens
Mana Cap: 15
Playable Splinters: Water, Earth, Life and Dragon
Team Composition
For a low mana capacity and a magic unit can be dealt with magic reflect, I did stick to the Djinn Chwala and Igor Darksphere combination to use the Heavy Hitter ruleset.
- Summoner: With a less chance of my opponent to use magic units, Quix the Devious is chosen for two reason: to use Djinn Chwala and to reduce range attack.
- 1st Position: Djinn Chwalla in the first position for a high health and armor with a high attack as well as thorn damage to melee monster. It also have enrage ability to strengthen its damage.
- 2nd Position: Igor Darksphere in the second position to support Djinn Chwala attacking the frontline as well as to inflict stun status.
- 3rd Position: Torrent Fiend in the last position in case of sneak attack. This only acts as a buffer.
Battle Analysis
A very good choice of using Quix the Devious which reduce the opponents range monsters attack as well as dealing with Xenith Monk in the frontline against Djinn Chwala is a big disadvantage due to the thorn damage and high attack of Djinn Chwala.
By watching the battle, this showcase a knock out attack from Djinn Chwala defeating the monsters one by one. Of course with the help of Igor Darksphere
😵💫 Closing Remarks
As mentioned, Heavy Hitters or even the knock out ability is somehow being ignore because of the prerequisite needed to have its effect taken its place.
- A monster with stun ability
- The target is in the stun status
- The attack should hit the monster in the stun status.
But achieving this steps results to a big damage which can be seen as well in the battle. I just hope that there will be a revamp in which when a monster is in the stun status, it should not be able to dodge any incoming attack as the monster is already at the stun status. How is it possible that a monster can still evade if they are stunned?
