Hello Splinterlands Community,
This is Entry #8 of the soulbound reward cards under the Chaos Legion Edition. Last week I have shared my insight about Pyrewatch Devil and the summoner Eternan Brune which belongs to the fire splinter. In this post, I will be sharing my insight and thought for Riverboat Captain and the summoner Pembrook Nymph which are both having a rare rarity.
For those who are new to my post, I usually post information which is related in the Silver/Gold League Modern Format.
👨✈️ Riverboat Captain
Riverboat Captain is an additional magic unit from the water splinter which provides a massive damage.
Looking at the stats, Riverboat Captain deals a 2 to 3 magic damage, with 1 to 2 speed and a 4 to 6 health for a cost of 6 mana. This card maybe a good choice for water in the reverse speed.
In terms of ability, the blast ability deals additional damage to adjacent unit of the target.
Starting from siler league, the affliction serves as a good ability in stopping tanks from sustaining damage by self heal or tank heal.
Maximizing the level of this monsters provide the fury ability which gives double damage to taunt unit. It will be a 6 magic damage for taunt monsters without applying reduction damage.
Riverboat Captain is a good card that can be use in wands out and reverse speed ruleset. It can also be use in the target practice ruleset as the blast damage may deal extra damage towards the adjacent monsters in the backline, bringing a total of 3 monsters being attack on a single attack.
My personal rating for this card is : 3/5
Combo Cards
In terms of summoner, only Alric and Valnamor provides extra boost to Riverboat Captain attack but these two can only be use in Wild format. In Modern format, currently the existing summoners does not directly provide a best boost to Riverboat Captain.
In terms of monsters, as long as the frontline monsters can hold the line then Riverboat Captain is a good use in the backline dealing extra damage because of the blast. We all know that blast is a pretty powerful ability.
This card is effective against healing monsters such as Baakjiira even it has a magic reduction ability. The main goal is to prevent those monsters in healing and sustaining the attack.
Below are the opponent monsters that may affected by the affliction:
Counter Cards
In terms of counter cards, monsters with silence ability are the great cards against Riverboat Captain to futher reduce its damage.
Void, Void armor, Phase, Magic Reflect and reflection shield abilities also weaken the effectivity of Riverboat Captain.
Here are the monsters with these abilities:
NOTE that above monsters does not include the Soul Bound Reward cards.
Pembrook Nymph
Pembrook Nymph is the soulbound reward card summoner for the water splinter.
Eternan Brune provides only extra health and can summon 1 gladiator card in the rank battle and tournament. For brawl, it can provide extra 1 gladiator card in the battlefield.
In terms of the summoning level, it is the same with the core summoners. The main difference is the mana cost it needs which is more than 2.
Pembrook Brune main purpose is to use the gladiator card in the battlefield. If you have not enough gladiator card in your league, then it is not a good choice to use Eternan Brune.
In my old post, these are the gladiator card from the Water splinter which will be summon by Pembrook Nymph: The Champion of the Arena - Water Team . This may help you if there are gladiator card that are worth to use.
🔥 Closing Remarks
Riverboat Captain is a pretty good card in terms of damage but with a low speed. Usually the water splinter are known for a high speed monsters but given that in reverse speed ruleset, Riverboat Captain is a great use. It can also be use towards sustaining lineup to prevent further healing as well as target practice to inflict further damage in the backline.
Pembrook Nymph summoner on the other hand is a summmoner that can use gladiator monsters. My favorite water gladiator monsters are Isgald Vorst because of the opportunity and Edith Emberstar because of the high range damage.
Thank you for reading! See you next week for the Entry #9 which will discuss about Madcap Magus and Lobb Lowland.
