Hello Splinterlands Community,

This is Entry #9 of the soulbound reward cards under the Chaos Legion Edition. Last week I have shared my insight about Riverboat Captain and the summoner Pembrook Nymph which belongs to the water splinter. In this post, I will be sharing my insight and thought for Madcap Magus and the summoner Lobb Lowland which can summon the powerful Quora!

For those who are new to my post, I usually post information which is related in the Silver/Gold League Modern Format.

🍄 Madcap Magus

Madcap Magus.png

  • Madcap Magus is the additional magic monster from the earth splinter with increasing health everytime it attacks.

  • Looking at the stats, Madcap Magus deals a 1-2 magic damage which can be boosted up by Obsidian, a constant speed of 1 which gives this card a great use in reverse speed and a varying health from 1 to 4.

  • In terms of ability, Madcap Magus scattershot and life leech ability are the baseline abilities of this card. This card increases its health everytime it attacks. The scattershot however I see in this card is a bit of a disadvantage in most cases and an advantage in some cases. For example with a 3 magic attack it is an advantage for the fog of war ruleset as Madcap attack may attack the backline support. Disadvantage as dealing a random target purely relies on the RNG side of the game.

  • Starting from gold league, this card provides additional use which is afflication that stops a monster from healing or receiving a heal which stops the sustain strategy.

  • Maximizing the level of this monster unlocks the dispel ability which is very effective against monsters in bloodlust or martyr effect.

  • Madcap Magus seems to be a good addition to the earth splinter especially in little league and reverse speed ruleset. This card will be a good addition magic unit.

  • My personal rating for this card is : 2.5/5

Combo Cards

In terms of summoner, Obsidian is the best summoner which provides magic damage boost in order for this card to become powerful.

Card
Advantage/Disadvantage
Obsidian
Obsidian provides a magic damage boost to Madcap Magus increasing its damage from 1~2 to 2~3. Having a higher damage means getting a good life leech ability.

In terms of monsters, as long as the frontline monsters can hold the line then Madcap Magus is a good use in the backline increasing its health in each attack. It may also defeat a sustaining monster in the backline due to its scattershot ability.

This card is effective against healing monsters such as Baakjiira even it has a magic reduction ability. The main goal is to prevent those monsters in healing and sustaining the attack.

Below are the opponent monsters that may affected by the affliction whic is only available starting gold league:

Counter Cards

In terms of counter cards, monsters with silence ability are the great cards against Madcap Magus to futher reduce its damage. Monsters with phase ability also provides a great impact against Madcap Magus (except in reverse speed) as this card speed is only 1. A big difference in speed such as Oshannus have a high chance for this card to miss its magic attack.

Void, Void armor and Magic Reflect abilities also weaken the effectivity of Madcap Magus.

🦍 Lobb Lowland

Lobb Lowland.png

  • Lobb Lowland is the soulbound reward card summoner for the earth splinter.

  • Lobb Lowland provides minus 1 to opponent's monster speed which may lessen the speed gap or increase the advantage and can summon 1 gladiator card in the rank battle and tournament. For brawl, it can provide extra 1 gladiator card in the battlefield. This summoner is one of the best summoner as this card can summon Quora from the gladiator card which is remarkably powerful.

  • In terms of the summoning level, it is the same with the core summoners. The main difference is the mana cost it needs which is more than 2.

  • Lobb Lowland main purpose is to use the gladiator card in the battlefield. If you have Quora in your deck, Lobb is a very useful summoner.

  • In my old post, these are the gladiator card from the Earth splinter which will be summon by Lobb Lowland: The Champion of the Arena - Earth Team . This may help you if there are other gladiator card other than Quora.

🍃 Closing Remarks

Madcap Magus is a good utility card in terms of survivability due to its life leech but with a low speed. This card is great to use in little league and reverse speed rulesets. Facing against healing and bloodlust monsters in higher league, Madcap Magus affliction and dispel can be of a good use.

Lobb Lowland on the other hand is a summmoner that can use gladiator monsters. Quora is the famous to be one of the powerful gladiator card that is currently exist.

Thank you for reading! See you next week for the Entry #10 which will discuss about War Pegasus and Franz Ruffmane
