🌳 The Stats

The Stats.png

  • Mycelic Infantry is a rare card from the earth splinter which main purpose is defense due to its tough body.

  • Looking at the basic stats of Mycelic Infantry, this creature is a slow monster with a constant of 1 speed, a high health with some armor as well as a high melee attack.

  • The shield ability strengthen the toughness of this creature against physical attack by reducing the incoming damage from melee and range monsters including damage from earthquake and thorns.

  • The giant killer ability which is only available starting from gold league at ★6 is great against high mana monsters from the frontline.

  • The final ability which is enrage further enhance Mycelic Infantry damage however without true strike or speed boost, this card might miss high speed and flying monsters.

Combo Cards

In terms of summoners, Mylor Crowling is the best summoner currently in the earth element which can further improves Mycelic Infantry however this card is expensive. Fernheart would also be a good option for a health boost.

Card
Advantage/Disadvantage
Mylor Crowling
With the thorns ability that Mylor can provide will give Mycelic Infantry to further strengthen its toughness and defensive position in the frontline. With the thorn damage, it can eradicate melee monsters.

In terms of monsters, I believe that there might be some monsters which can further support Mycelic Infantry in the frontline by repair, tank heal or protect abilities. There are some monster from the earth and neutral splinter which can provide this additional benefits.

Card
Advantage/Disadvantage
Queen Mycelia
Queen Mycelia is the one who created the Mycelics and with Queen Mycelia's protect and amplify ability, she can enhance Mycelic Infantry by providing more armor and if Mycelic Infantry does have thorns from Mylor or from the ruleset Patch Briar, the thorn damage is amplify. Max level Mycelia also provides rust which removes -2 armor from the enemies that could help as well Mycelic Infantry.
Goblin Psychic
Goblin Psychic with the tank heal provides support to Mycelic Infantry defending the frontline. With the high health and toughness, the healing abilities that Goblin Psychic provides is a much help to hold the front lines.
Scavo Hireling
Junker
Scavo Hireling initially seems does not have much of a use but with the repair ability, this creature plays an important role in the battlefield. With the repair ability, this card can support Mycelic Infantry in the frontline or even in the backline, for super sneak ruleset, in order to sustain the line of defense.

Junker on the other hand do have the repair ability but only available starting at gold league. This is a pretty good combination with Mycelic Infantry with having a reach ability, it can support the damage in the opponent's frontline while having the repair works with Mycelic Infantry.

Favorable Ruleset

There are quite a specific ruleset that is most likely Mycelic Infantry would appear.

Ruleset
Benefits
Combat-rule_briar-patch_150.pngBriar Patch
A Briar Patch ruleset or the thorn ability gives additional advantage to Mycelic Infantry as with the shield ability, it can reduce the melee attack while giving back a 2 damage from thorns.
Combat-rule_fog-of-war Small.pngFog of War
With the Fog of War ability, it is 90% (opportunity attack is still in-place) sure that the attack will be towards the frontline. In this ruleset, Mycelic Infantry is best to use to do what it is designed to do so, by doing the defense. Just make sure that there would be no magic attack coming.
Combat-rule_reverse-speed Small.pngReverse Speed
Mycelic Infantry does have a fixed amount of speed which is 1. In the reverse speed ruleset, this card would most likely going to attack early which can be a great advantage.
Combat-rule_up-close-personal Small.pngUp Close and Personal
With the melee monsters only available, Mycelic Infantry have the advantage in this ruleset especially in the frontline. Adding up with some melee monsters with demoralized ability will further reduce the damage towards Mycelic Infantry. Just make sure Mycelic Infantry could hit the target.
  • Aim True could also be a good ruleset so Mycelic Infantry attack could land the target.
  • In some case, without any flying monster avaiable Mycelic Infantry can be use in earthquake ruleset.
  • Super sneak ruleset could also be a good option in-case you are expecting all melee opponents which would utilize the sneak ability.

🌳 The Battle and Outcome

Battle

Rules of Combat

Modifications: Reverse Speed, Rise of the Commons
Mana Cap: 26
Playable Splinters: Fire, Earth, and Life

R1.png

This battle showcase the defensive supremacy of Mycelic Infantry in the frontline. With the reverse speed ruleset, earth splinter is truly one good option due to a lot of monster with low speed. In this battle, my lineup greatly opposed the Life team as there are no any magic units which could change the battle outcome. The reason on why I choose those monsters are as follows:

  • Summoner: Obsidian simply because it will boost the magic attack of Goblin Psychic and Scavo Technomancer.
  • 1st Position: Mycelic Infantry guards the front line simply because this is what this creature is made of. With the reverse speed ruleset, Mycelic Infantry is truly have a big advantage in the front line.
  • 2nd Position: A Venari Scout which may contradict the ruleset as this card have a mid speed but with the opportunity ability, this could deal damage to the lowest health monsters.
  • 3rd Position: Goblin Psychic with the tank heal gives additional support to Mycelic Infantry to maintain the defense in the frontline.
  • 4th Position: Scavo Technomancer with a low speed and a blast ability gives additional support in the frontline to eradicate the enemies. This card could give much help if this is a ★4 which gives rust ability.

Let's do the battle analysis per round:

Round 1

R1.png

Analyzing Life splinter line-up. It is indeed that it follows the reverse speed ruleset as there are slow speed range monsters and Chaos Knight in the frontline which also have the shield ability. The physical attack from the range unit is greatly weaken by Mycelic Infantry because of its shield ability. The strategy is good however Goblin Psychic and Scavo Technomancer disabled the defense in the frontline.

In the first round, given the reverse speed ruleset, Mycelic Infantry will attack first, followed by Goblin Psychic. Then a sneak attack from Stitch Leech but could not able to kill Scavo Technomancer. Technomancer attack defeat Chaos Knight. The attack from the range unit is reduced by Mycelic Infantry.

Round 2

R2.png

The round 2 starts by destroying stitch leech armor from the Mycelic Infantry's attack. Then a heal from Goblin Psychic gives a lot of challenge in defeating Mycelic Infantry. The magic attack from Goblin Psychic also defeated Stitch Leech. Scavo Technomancer deals another attack resulting the defeat of truthspeaker, removing armor buffs from his allies. Then Scout Venari opportunity attack defeated The Herbalist.

Round 3

R3.png

Sealing off the battle, Mycelic Infantry was able to defend the frontline defeating Pelacor Arbalest and Goblin Psychic landing the final blow defeating Xenith Archer.

🌳 Final Thoughts

Mycelic Infantry is truly a powerful monsters in the frontline which deals great damage and absorbing physical damage. This creature can hold the front line longer than the others. The problem with this creature is that it is so slow which is best to use only in reverse speed. This monster is also weak in magic attack which is why without any magic unit, this card could dominate the battlefield.

In conclusion, Mycelic Infantry is a good against physical attack and a very useful card in the earth splinter.

How do you think Mycelic Infantry is?
