It's been a long time since we've had a Splinterlands Town Hall. The last one I remember was still last year (though I might be mistaken about that). But recently, a new member was announced for the Splinterlands team welcome to @davemccoy
For those who aren't too familiar, Dave isn’t just some random executive who popped up out of nowhere. He’s practically a veteran within the Splinterlands community, following the game since its early days. He joined Hive (back when it was still Steem) in December 2017 and has been around ever since, actively participating and contributing ideas.
As we can see in a post celebrating Splinterlands' 5th anniversary:

This means he understands the game, knows the community, and is aware of what truly matters to players.
Speaking of numbers, Dave is no slouch. With 40 years of experience in the financial sector, he brings massive expertise in management and leadership.
And you know what else? He has invested heavily in Splinterlands himself.
His card collection is worth over $29,000.
This proves that he genuinely believes in the game and its potential. An executive who invests in their own product is a rare sight, and that makes me optimistic about the changes he might bring.
Dave himself has made it clear that one of his main goals will be attracting and retaining new players. Anyone who plays Splinterlands knows that the game has a well-structured ecosystem, but let’s be honest bringing in new people and keeping them engaged is a constant challenge. And if there’s someone who can help with that, it’s a guy who understands both the financial side and the gaming community. He has seen Splinterlands grow, go through highs and lows, and still continued to believe in the project.
Another interesting point is that Dave joining the team also frees up @yabapmatt to focus more on product/game design.
This could bring direct improvements to gameplay and the player experience.
Many people forget, but leading a company like this involves a lot of bureaucracy, and having someone with management expertise to handle that means the team can finally pay more attention to what really matters:

Now, the big question is:
What’s coming next with this change?
If Dave manages to execute his ideas well, we could see Splinterlands reaching a new level, especially in terms of attracting new players. The community is already strong, but it can always grow more. And honestly, I’d rather see someone with history in the game making decisions than some random person parachuting in without even knowing what a Summoner is.
At the end of the day, Dave’s arrival is an interesting move for Splinterlands. He has the experience, the passion for the game, and a vision that could help take the project even further. Now, we just have to wait and see how this will impact the game in the coming months.
But for now, my bet is that this was one of the best decisions the team could have made.

E, sinceramente, eu prefiro ver gente com histórico no jogo tomando decisões do que algum aleatório que caiu de paraquedas sem nem saber o que é um Summoner.
No fim das contas, a chegada do Dave é uma jogada interessante para o Splinterlands. Ele tem a experiência, a paixão pelo jogo e uma visão que pode ajudar a levar o projeto ainda mais longe. Agora é esperar pra ver como isso vai impactar o jogo nos próximos meses. Mas, por enquanto, minha aposta é que essa foi uma das melhores decisões que o time poderia ter tomado.
