I Reached Diamond 1, Now What?

Hey hey hey! It's a joyous day!

I finally reached Diamond 1. I am currently at 3420 rating. This is a first for me that's why I can't contain my joy. But my happiness was somewhat short lived because of the recent announcement in Splinterlands. That announcement is about the Upcoming Tier Advancement Chests. I am now torn. Why is that? Let me explain in detail.

Tier Advancement Chests

Let's talk about the new update first. Starting next season, players will receive Loot Chests (Minor, Major and Ultimate) when they advance to the next league for the first time. The number of chests depends on the league they advanced to.

For example, when a Gold 2 player reaches Gold 1, that player will receive 9 Minor Chests and 6 Major Chests. But when he/she goes back to Gold 2, the chests wont be awarded again when Gold 1 is reached again. This only applies to the first time the player advances to the next higher league. With this in mind, I am now torn with two things, should I advance to Champion III or retain Diamond 1?

Should I Continue Advancing To Champion III?

Upon reaching Diamond I, I feel somewhat confident I could crawl up to Champion III. It wont be easy but doable. With only 12 hours left till End-Of-Season (EOS), the battles are easier than the first few days. Once I do reach Champion III, I will reset to 3200 rating which is Diamond II.

With Tier Advancement Chests next season, once I reach Diamond 1, I am entitled to 12 Minor Chests, 9 Major Chests and 3 Ultimate Chests. This is not bad. But the difficulty of reaching Diamond 1 is so hard, I think I could only advance to Diamond 1 after 13 days. That's a lot of time. With my current expertise, I think I can only reach Champion III and advance only twice.

Should I Retain Diamond 1 or Go Down Diamond 2?

Now think about when I retain Diamond 1 or go down Diamond 2, I will reset next season to Gold 1 (2600 rating).

Why is it good to go down? Here, I have more opportunities to advance. When I reach Diamond III, I can get 10 Minor Chests, 7 Major Chests and 1 Ultimate Chest. When I reached Diamond II, I can receive 12 Minor Chests, 8 Major Chests and 2 Ultimate Chests. And so on, until Champion III. In short, I can have more chests as I advance! Isn't it amazing? That's why I am so torn.

Closing

I know I am not the only one torn about this issue. But this sense of confusion is a good thing to have in a game. It is now more exciting to advance in higher leagues. Kudos to the Splinterlands team for giving us more things to look forward to. How about you? What's your game plan? Tell me yours.

Dropping league may be the better option chest-wise. I was also considering of dropping from c3 to d1 to chase for the additional chest though it can hurt my SPS earnings next season.

Yes, Got lucky potions Tier dia 1😂
