Possible Combinations Of Racial Dominion

Conclave Arcana will bring a new mechanic into the game in the form of Racial Dominion. For those who are not aware, Racial Dominion is an ability that allows Archons (summoners) to summon an specific race of units regardless of elemental affinity to the battle and grant them an exclusive ability. Taken as an example in the recent Townhall, Fithe Bladestone is a 4 Mana Fire Archon that grants +1 Armor to all units and summons Dwarves with Void Armor as his Racial Dominion ability. This means that Fithe can summon the likes of Mana Warden, Time Meddler, and Grimbardun Smith which are dwarves from different splinters. This adds more synergies and combinations in the game. And speaking of combinations, what other racial dominion synergies can the team come up. Let's start to speculate.

Races in Splinterlands

Before all of the speculations, let us review first what are the different races in the game. According to Splinterlands Lore, there about nineteen (19) species in Splinterlands:
  • Avians. Humanoid Birds that include Harpies, Ravenfolk and Owlkin.
  • Celestials. Creatures native to the Upper Plane like Animavians and Elani.
  • Constructs. Articial or Crafted creatures like Golems, Divine and Mech constructs.
  • Demifolk. Diminutive Humanoids. This is where Dwarves, Gnomes and Halflings belong.
  • Dragons. Large and Powerful Saurian-like creatures. This includes Dragons and Dragonkin.
  • Elementals. Element-based creatures. Djinns, Bestial and Primal Elementals
  • Eureptilians. Humanoid reptiles like Nagas, Serpentines, Lizardkins and others.
  • Fey. Creatures of the Fey Plane. Includes Centaurs, Elves, Nymphs, Pixies and others.
  • Fiends. Creatures of lower planes like Demons, Shades, Imps, Reapers and others.
  • Giants. Enormous Humanoids. True Giants and their Giantkins like Ogres and Trolls.
  • Goblinoids. Goblins and their golbin-kins. Yes, Orcs are just big goblins.
  • Insectoids. Humanoid insects. Antoids, Arachnes, Beeteloids and Mantisoids belong here.
  • Materrans. Diverse and adaptable humanoids with short lifespans.
  • Mundane Beasts. Non-humanoid creatures.
  • Mammalians. Mundane beasts that has warm-blooded animal features.
  • Monstrocities. Creatures that defy the traditional categorization.
  • Oozes. Gelatinous invertebrates.
  • Piscine. Aquatic humanoids.
  • Plants. Sentient and non-sentient flora and fungi.
When Conclave Arcana comes, it may have Racial Dominions for a limited number of races at first. For now, the following races are mentioned in the recent Town Hall:
  • Dwarves. Demifolk with broad and muscular builds that are proficient in metalworks.
  • Orcs. Large and muscular goblinoids that has tusks-like lower canines and wolf-like ears.
  • Elves. Magical Fey creatures that has slender builds and loves seclusions.
  • Gnomes. Gnomes are small demifolk known based on their habitats like Rock Gnomes.
  • Ulunds. Massive, humanoid hippopotamuses that live in a highly-structured and pragmatic society.

Racial Dominions

Let us use Fithe Bladestone as the template for Racial Dominion. For now, let us assume Racial Dominion is consists of the following parts:

  • General Ability - pertains to the ability granted by the summoner to all units
  • Race - race of the summoner or the units that will be affected by the Racial Dominion
  • Dominion Ability - the ability granted to the race.

Though Racial Dominion is only represented as a link of Race and Ability, the General Ability is included due to the fact that the Dominion Ability should synergize with the General Ability. For example, Fithe Bladestone grants Armor to all but for his Dwarf race, the armor will be a Void Armor. The General Ability is not limited to one or it can be a debilitation but in my opinion, the Dominion Ability should be related to the General Ability.

Possible Racial Dominions

Ulunds

Here is a possible Racial Dominion for the Ulunds. With +1 Health as the General Ability, it will synergize with the Dominion Ability of Heal. Ulunds have more chances for sustainability as most Ulunds then to prioritize Strength over Health. There are a limited number of Ulunds in the game right now. We might see more of them in Conclave Arcana.

Gnomes

Gnomes are known for granting buffs and being defensive in nature. But what happens when you give it more speed and can be able to dodge? They will be unstoppable. Pair them with Weapons Training and you're all set.

Elves

Now this is an interesting take. Elves are known for their versatility. They can do melee, ranged and magic attacks. But most of the elves have magic affinity. An additional magic attack with the Dominion ability of Phase will make elves offensively and defensively equipped.

Orcs

What else can we expect from Orcs but a more Melee-centric approach. In this Racial Dominion, Orcs can defensively melt Armor with Corrosive Ward. And once enemies' Armor are melted, their attacks would be more effective. Piercing can be another option for a Dominion Ability but there are a lot of cards with this ability already.

Closing

Racial Domination is a fun addition to the game. It adds more synergies to the game by allowing the use of cards that belong to a certain race or faction. Oh and let's not forget about Summoner Tactics. Surely the combination of Summoner Tactics and Racial Domination will shake up the meta and bring more excitement to the game.
