The Forgotten Prestige of Conscripting
There was once a time that the line between Ranked Battles and Brawls are so thick and well-defined. Gladius cards were Brawl-exclusive cards. Players can't use those cards in ranked play both in Modern and Wild. But Conscript changed it all. With this Archon (summoner) ability, players can use one Gladius card in battle. Although this can still be done today, by April, we wont have any Archons left with that ability. Hence it's prestige is slowly dwindling down. Let us revisit how this changed the game forever and what could possibly replace it in the next major set.
Conscript Ability
According to Splinterlands Support:
Conscript allows the use of one Gladiator card in battle. When the archon possessing this ability is used in Brawls, however, it will allow 2 Gladiator cards. The modifier (ruleset) Are You Not Entertained? will also allow one extra Gladiator card so when Conscript is used, it will add another one. Hence two Gladiator card.
Right now, only Chaos Legion Soulbound summoners possess this ability. That means when CL rotates out of Modern, we will no longer see this mechanic in Modern format. Would it be possible that a Conclave Arcana card could have this ability too? We are not certain. But what we are most certain is it will have a replacement. Introducing Racial Dominion.
Racial Dominion Coming This Conclave Arcana
In the recent Town Hall, the team introduced a bunch of new stuff for Conclave Arcana. One of those is Racial Dominion or what Yabapmatt would call it "Racial Synergy". From what was revealed so far, Racial Dominion will allow the summoning of cards (regardlesss of element) that has the similar Race to the card possessing the ability. What's more, it will grant the summoned cards with an ability. For example, Fithe Bladestone (above) is a dwarf that has the Racial Dominion of summoning dwarves granted with the Void Armor ability. Example of Races that can be summoned are Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, Vampires, Hyenaian, Ulan and more.
Racial Dominion is presented as a link of two icons. The first icon is the Race and the second one is the ability. Though we will no longer able to summon Gladius cards, this one is a better summoner ability. Besides, we might have Gladius cards unbounded in the future.
Closing
So here it is. Racial Dominion. A summoner ability that will shake the gameplay just like how Conscript changed it during the Chaos Legion era. A lot of things happening in our favorite game and I do hope we will get more in the future.
