The Ultimate Debilitation: Status Explosion
As an entry to The People's Guild Challenge: Dominion Part 1, I present to you the ultimate ability/debilitation - Status Explosion. But first, let us review what status effects mean in Splinterlands.
Status Effects
In Splinterlands, Status Effects are brought about by the Abilities of the units in the battlefield. They may either enhance the stat of the allies or reduce the enemies' stats. These abilities are divided into two categories based on their effects:
Positive Effects
- Inspire - allies gain 1 melee attack
- Protect - allies gain 2 armor
- Strengthen - allies gain 1 max health
- Swiftness - allies gain 1 speed
- Martyr - adjacent allies get +1 all stats
- Mimic - owner gains random abilities
- Bloodlust - owner gains +1 all stats upon successful kill
Negative Effects
- Affliction - enemy cannot be healed
- Blind - enemy has 15% chance of missing
- Demoralize - enemy loses 1 melee attack
- Enfeeble - enemy loses 1 1 melee attack
- Expose - enemy loses some abilities
- Halving - enemy's attack power is halved
- Headwinds - enemy loses 1 ranged attack
- Impede - enemy loses 1 speed
- Poison - enemy loses 2 health every round
- Rust - enemies lose 2 max armor
- Silence - enemies lose 1 magic attack
- Slow - enemies lose 1 speed
- Snare- enemy loses flying ability
- Stun - stunned enemies don't attack
- Weaken - enemies lose 1 max health
Aside from Abilities, the game also has Debilitations that affect only the allies of the unit possessing it.
- Incendiary - reapplies Burning
- Electrified - allies get 1 damage every round
- Force Reduction - reduces maximum team size by 1
- Weary - 10% chance to be exhausted
Now to clear things up, what we would need in this proposed ability is the use of Actual Status Effects and not Ability or Debilitation. It is actually giving a unit a 'state' or 'status' that causes an effect rather than an Ability that gives a status. Summarizing the information above, the Actual Status Effects in Splinterlands are:
Actual Status Effect | Description |
---|---|
Status Addition | This includes gaining points in Melee Attack, Ranged Attack, Magic Attack, Health, Speed and Armor |
Status Reduction | This includes losing points in Melee Attack, Ranged Attack, Magic Attack, Health, Speed and Armor |
Afflicted | Cannot be healed |
Blinded | Has 15% chance of missing |
Stunned | Loses a turn |
Poisoned | Loses 2 Health every turn |
Exhausted | Random chance of losing a turn |
Electrified | Loses 2 Health every turn |
Burned | Lose 1 Health every turn. Can burn others. |

Now that we understand what Actual Status Effects are, let us now discuss what Status Explosion is. Basically, when the unit with Status Explosion dies, all units in the battlefield will receive a random Status Effect. As clarified earlier, this will not give an Ability but rather an Actual Status Effect. Every unit as long as alive will be affected and will be affected with different statuses. This ability/debilitation can be made exclusive to Neutral cards as it embodies neutrality. Friends or Foes are affected by this ability.
In a nutshell, this is the ability:
Name | Element | Effect |
---|---|---|
Status Explosion | Neutral | When the unit with this Status Explosion dies, all units in the battlefield will receive a random status effect. |
Closing
I enjoyed thinking about this ability and I'm even more excited if this ability will be implemented in the game. I am not expecting it actually, but it will a lot of fun. Thanks to @thepeoplesguild
for this challenge. More power to you guys and Peace!
