Weekly Friday Giveaway #1
I LOVE seeing people doing giveaways for the community. When I first started, this was what got me really into creating content on Splintertalk and Peakd, and really upped my engagement with the game.
Splinterlands has such a well integrated, generous community that are always giving back and helping eachother, and while I am not a very big account, I wanted to join in on that:
Starting today, and continuing every Friday, I will be doing a giveaway for you guys! My giveaways won't be super exciting initially, as I grow though, I hope to have more and more exciting giveaways, so bare with me initially!
Today, my first giveaway will be about Harvester, an Earth Reward card that costs 5 Mana, with 2 Melee, 2 Speed, and 7 Health. Many of you likely ignore him for better tanks at Level 1. Harvester however, is a unique Earth tank specifically designed for decimating annoying non-attacking cards that dare get in its way. You see, at 5 Cost, it's a relatively cheap card, and it's fairly underwhelming, except occasionally in low mana for Level 1.
Level 2 gives it +1 Health, which makes it slightly tankier but still kind of underwhelming.
Level 3 gives it +1 Melee, and honestly, it's starting to look OK, but its speed kind of makes it a poor pick still.
Level 4 it gets Oppress, what that does is grant double damage against units that do not have an attack. Woopdy doo you're thinking? Oh hey, Shadowy Presence, Failed Summoner, Kelp Initiate? One shot. Gelatinous Cube? Almost a one shot. 2 Hits on Almo Cambio, full damage against Onyx Sentinel & Lord Aranthius.
Suddenly he's a much more viable pick. But then, at Level 8, which granted, is VERY high up, he gains Enrage. Suddenly, you hit this guy, he gains +2 Melee, and +1 Speed. That +2 Melee is actually +4 Melee against the aforementioned non-attacking cards! Imagine hitting an Almo Cambio for 12 Damage in a single attack. Imagine one-shotting a Level 1 Lord Aranthius. Does that sound good? Because it sounds good to me with how often I see Aranthius lately.
For me, he's still a situational pick at nearly all times, but he deserves way more credit than a groan when you receive him from a Reward Chest, if not now, for the future danger he becomes to cards that are very powerful in higher metas (Aranthius, Onyx, Almo, Failed Summoner, Cube)
Anyway, the RULES are simple:
I would LOVE an upvote or follow, any sort of thing like that! This is OPTIONAL, you do NOT need to do this if you don't want to. I DO count Upvotes for the giveaway though. This is largely so newer players can save their Resource Credits, as voting is cheaper than commenting.
You can also Comment, again, totally OPTIONAL. EITHER OR will count you in this giveaway!
When this post pays out, I will choose 2 Winners using the Wheel of Names, the first winner will receive the Harvester, the second winner will receive 50% of the Payout rewards of the next Friday Giveaway!
