The Luck of the Draw #24 - Let's Talk about Death Baby

in Splinterlands3 years ago

Hello dear Splinterlanders and welcome to the newest episode of the Luck of the Draw. The game really wants me to do the snipe quest at the moment so I have to reroll quite often in the recent days, which of course leaves me stuck with whatever the game throws at me next. In today's case that was a Death quest. Death is quite the unfamiliar Splinter for me as I play it very rarely and therefore was confronted with a whole new set of cards which seemed rather weak to me at first glance. To help me with my quest I rented an Owster Rotwell for cheap. Luckily my opponents seemed to be equally inexperienced when it comes to facing death as I was playing death so I had a variety of rather interesting matches today. I learned a lot and the most importanat thing I learned was that death, with just the base cards is actually rather weak and is outclassed at everything by the other Splinters.
You want to play magic? Earth or Water. You want to play melee? Fire. You want to play range? Life or Water. You want to counter Magic? Water or Earth. You want to counter melee? Earth or Fire. You want to counter range? Maybe death. The CL cards not included in the starter set might make death viable but right now it seems to be inferior at everything. It only has a heads up in earthquake matches due to the scavenger and deceiver, but since most people have a Brighton bloom at the ready that heads up rarely is enough to justify playing death. A typical Jack of all Trades without a niche. Have you found any use for Death? Tell me in the comments down below.
Anyways to complete my daily quest I spent roughly two hours because Death seems to be a bad pick most of the time and got the following rewards:

15 DEC is alright, considering a win gives me between three to four DEC. And look at this, another Deceiver. Maybe this happened in memory of the death quest i just forced myself through, but i will keep it in high regard. No matter the rewards, sometimes daily quests are nothing but frustrating when they force you to play inferior hands and leave you with losing streaks never seen before. At that point it makes balancing issues more obvious when you lose with death a lot but instantly go on a winning spree once you choose another Splinter. It might be me being inexperienced, but at least in lower leagues on base level death is going to be my least favourite Splinter to pick.
Anyways, thanks for reading, see you tomorrow, and keep up keeping up!
