Hello, Splinterlands Friends and Family! 👋🔥
For this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!, I decided to share an intense battle where I took down the almighty Tofu! 🍃🐸
I wanted to dive deep into this fight because it’s an interesting one, and maybe together we can analyze how to counter this dreaded Summoner that has been dominating the ranks. ⚔️🔍
🌟 Introduction
Tofu has been a game-changing addition to Splinterlands! 🐸🔥 Since its release, it has completely reshaped ranked play, and its power is undeniable. I've made a few posts about it, and every day, players complain about it on Discord and Hive—it’s truly a force to be reckoned with! ⚔️
I rented out my max-level Tofu, so I don’t play with the card anymore, and let me tell you—ranked battles have become way harder. Facing Tofu is a challenge, and my wins against it have been rare.
But today, I’m sharing one of those victories! Let’s break it down. 🚀

📊 Analyzing the Stats Before the Fight
Before diving into the battle, let's take a quick look at some stats. The season is ending in just a few hours, so this chart gives us a very accurate picture of the current meta.
🔹 As you can see, Tofu is dominating the rankings for the last three seasons, with over 3,000 games played each season, and that number keeps growing! 📈
🔹 The gap between Tofu and the second-place summoner, Lorkus, is massive—3,700 vs. 600 games. That means Tofu is being used six times more often than Lorkus! 🤯
🔹 Even its 64% win rate is incredibly high, considering how often it's played.
Tofu is one of the most expensive and rarest cards in the game, so many players don’t own it. However, since these stats are from Diamond and Champion ranks, we can assume that most of those players do have access to a copy.
Now, let’s see how I managed to take down this powerhouse! ⚔️🔥
🏆 Match Preparation
⚔️ The Ruleset
For this match, we have a 40 mana cap and only one ruleset:
Need for Speed: You can only summon units with 3 or more speed.
This type of ruleset doesn’t directly impact the fight but limits the card pool we can choose from. In this case, it wasn’t very restrictive, as you'd typically want units with more than 3 speed anyway.
The only unit I wanted to use but couldn't was Baakjira.
With a 40 mana cap, which is on the higher end of the spectrum, I was able to pick some really powerful units.
Now, let’s check out the lineups!
🛡️ The Lineups
Opponent's Lineup

My opponent’s lineup is a classic Tofu team.
Tofu generally prefers stronger tanks than Pelacor Mercenary, but the ruleset prevented my enemy from picking Grim or Mantaroth.
Mycelic Slipspawn is always a great choice due to Forcefield, while Moxian Rebel and Chaos Agent are likely just fillers.
My Team
Summoner | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th |

I went with a classic Water team.
The Kulu + Deeplurker combo is still very strong, as stacking Opportunity units always gives good results.
Key units:
🔹 Swamp Spitter → Provides Repair, keeping my frontline tank alive.
🔹 Angelic Mandarin → Great against magic due to Silence and a solid counter to Tofu’s Thorns thanks to Triage.
🔹 Speed Buffs → Supply Runner and Kelya boost my team’s speed, giving me an edge in attack order.
Overall, a classic but very strong team.
⚠️ Key Considerations
Aside from Tofu, my opponent is also using Venka, which is a deadly combination.
✅ Tofu + Venka is one of the most used duos in the game.
✅ Venka has Triage (heals the most damaged backline unit) and Scavenger (gains 1 max HP per monster death).
✅ This means Venka keeps healing and getting stronger every turn while destroying my team.
My opponent also has:
⚡ A Forcefield unit that counters two of my main damage dealers (Deeplurker & Kulu Mastermind).
⚡ Heavy magic damage, and I don’t have much magic protection (no Void on my team).
This fight is going to be a challenge! Let’s see how it plays out! 🎬🔥
🎬 I. The Match
After analyzing the lineups and the ruleset, things didn’t look great for me.
So, how did I manage to secure the win?
Let’s break it down turn by turn!
🔄 Turn 1 & 2
At the end of Turn 1 and the start of Turn 2, the battle is already intense.
🛡️ My tank, Noa, is taking massive magic damage and will fall as soon as Regal Peryton attacks first in Turn 2.
However, this actually works in my favor!
✅ Noa’s Martyr ability buffs Kulu Mastermind, increasing its stats.
✅ Kulu moves into the first position, where it can now contribute more effectively.
✅ Enemy’s Forcefield unit was countering Kulu’s attacks, so moving Kulu up removes that disadvantage.
The battle is just getting started—let’s see what happens next! 🚀🔥
💥 Kulu Goes Berserk!
As soon as Kulu took damage, it became an absolute beast thanks to Enrage.
⚔️ 9 Attack
⚡ 9 Speed
This turned Kulu into a deadly tank, but it remained extremely vulnerable to magic attacks.
🔄 Turn 3
By the end of Turn 2, things started to shift in my favor!
✅ Mycelic Slipspawn is down, leaving both the frontline and backline completely exposed!
During Turn 3, my team dominated:
🔥 Kulu & ranged units dealt massive damage, eliminating the enemy’s main tank, Pelacor Mercenary.
🐟 Deeplurker swiftly took down the enemy backliner, Chaos Agent.
❌ Venka missed most of its attacks and couldn’t do much damage.
🛠️ My team stayed strong thanks to Swamp Spitter’s Repair, keeping our armor alive.
The battle is turning in my favor, but can I keep up the momentum? Let’s see! 🚀🔥
🔥 Turn 4: The Tide Turns!
By Turn 4, my position improved drastically! 🎯
🔹 Regal Peryton is now in first position, making it my primary target.
🌀 With Flying and 7 Speed, it’s hard to hit, but I only need one good strike from Kulu plus any additional damage to take it down.
⚔️ However, this also means that Kulu is doomed this turn.
💀 2 damage from Regal Peryton + 1 damage from Moxian Rebel = Kulu’s final stand.
The battle is reaching its climax! Can I keep the momentum and secure the victory? Let’s find out! 🚀🔥
🏆 Turn 5: The Final Round
🔥 By Turn 5, the battle is all but over.
🔹 Venka is now in the frontline with only 3 HP left.
⚔️ All my units attack first, wiping out both Venka and Moxian Rebel before they can act.
🏁 Victory secured! 🎉
🔥 Final Thoughts
This fight was a great example of how speed dominates in Splinterlands. ⚡
📈 Key Takeaways:
✔️ My higher speed was the deciding factor, even against a fast enemy lineup.
✔️ Supply Runner + Kelya’s buffs made a huge impact, giving me the edge.
✔️ Speed is Tofu’s main weakness—it struggles to stack speed buffs without sacrificing key units.
✔️ Tofu + Venka remain top-tier, but I won thanks to speed and a bit of luck (some missed attacks saved me!).
Splinterlands is all about strategy, adaptation, and seizing every advantage! 🚀
🏁 Conclusion
This battle was a perfect showcase of how strategy, speed, and adaptability shape the outcome in Splinterlands.
💡 Key Lessons from the Fight:
✔️ Speed is king—even against a powerful Tofu lineup, having the initiative made all the difference.
✔️ Smart positioning matters—Noa's Martyr buff turned Kulu into a powerhouse at the right moment.
✔️ Countering Forcefield units is tricky—removing Mycelic Slipspawn early was a game-changer.
✔️ Luck always plays a role—some key enemy attacks missed, giving me the edge.
🔮 Final Thoughts:
Tofu and Venka remain dominant forces, but this fight proves that no strategy is unbeatable. With the right setup, buffs, and a bit of luck, even an underdog lineup can pull off a huge win! 🎯

Luckily Venka doesn't have true strike ability. I can't imagine what happened to your team if she has it.

yeah thats the only way I can usually beat Tofu... with speed and a lot of misses lol
That a very risky team. Usually, I have Oshannus for my tank to counter Venka.
Yeah, one hit from Venka would have Wrecked me. I was just not expecting a Venka that time. Still it worked out.
