For this week’s challenge, I’ve crafted three new cards, each featuring a distinct ability drawn from previous challenges. This time, I went with the Dragon, Death and Life Splinters. Below, I’ll go into each card’s stats, abilities, lore, and how they might impact both the current meta and guild brawls.
As the Dominion set is poised to take the place of the Gladius card set, it’s likely that, players will need to choose between deploying a Domineer or a Gladius card in battle. That's going to be a hard choice!⚔️🐉💀✨
☠️ Midnight Shogun
Set: Dominion
Splinter: Death 💀
Rarity: Rare
Mana Cost: 6
Card Stats
- Attack: 4 (Melee) ✨
- Health: 6 ❤️
- Speed: 6 💨
- Armor: 1 🛡️
Abilities
- Dodge: Increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks.
- Opportunity: Attacks from any position, targeting the enemy Monster with the lowest health.
- Cripple: Each time an enemy is hit, it loses one max health.
- Dark Resurrection: When a Death Domineer kills an enemy monster, the lowest-health allied monster is revived for one turn, after which it will die again.
Lore 📜
Veiled in mystery and dread, the Midnight Shogun emerges from the shadowy heart of Ithrazor. His face hidden beneath a dark mask, only his glowing red eyes pierce through, embodying his intent to dominate both the living and the dead. Cloaked in midnight-black robes edged in crimson, he wields a katana pulsing with cursed, red lightning—an extension of his dark will that demands unwavering loyalty from his followers.
In whispered legends, he commands a secret cult filled with thousand of followers loyal to their master’s every order. These followers, are not of an ethereal form. Its yet unclear if the followers belong to the land of the living or the dead. Once a guardian of souls, the Shogun now reaps them, bending the natural order to insert the followers essence or soul into his fallen allies for fleeting moments. With each enemy slain, his katana crackles anew, channeling his mastery over life and death to strike fear into all who oppose him. In the Splinterlands, his presence is a reminder that even in death, one may serve.
Midnight Shogun in the Meta ⚔️
The Midnight Shogun is an agile melee powerhouse who turns the tide with his unique Dark Resurrection ability, reviving fallen allies for one last assault. His Opportunity ability allow him to target and dismantle low-health foes with precision, while Cripple steadily reduces enemies’ max health, weakening their endurance over time. His high speed and dodge abilities make him really hard to hit.
With his followers at his back, his glowing red eyes and crackling katana, the Midnight Shogun’s formidable presence lends well to guild brawls and high-stakes battles. In low-health strategies, his temporary revival ability can create unexpected openings, absorbing hits or inflicting last-ditch damage. The Shogun is a valuable asset for Death teams, infusing a strategic edge that can turn the battlefield into his own dark domain. ⚔️💀
🌟 Radiant Vindicator
Set: Dominion
Splinter: Life ✨
Rarity: Rare
Mana Cost: 10
Card Stats
- Attack: 5 (Magic) ✨
- Health: 12 ❤️
- Speed: 3 💨
- Armor: 0 🛡️
Abilities
- Dispel: When this monster hits an enemy, it clears all positive status effects on that enemy.
- Scattershot: This monster's attacks hit a random enemy target.
- Beacon of Protection: After a Domineer kills an enemy, this unit and adjacent allies gain the Divine Shield ability.
Lore 📜
The Radiant Vindicator is a divine champion, summoned from the celestial realms to deliver justice and protect the weak. Once a humble celestial servant, the Vindicator's unwavering loyalty to the light was tested during the Chaos Legion era that engulfed the Splinterlands. As the darkness spread, threatening to consume the realms, the Vindicator was transformed by the divine wrath into an embodiment of righteous fury.
Wielding a powerful staff, the Radiant Vindicator channels celestial magic to smite foes with the purity of light, dispelling all negative forces that seek to corrupt the battlefield. The Vindicator’s anger, however, does not stem from hatred, but from an unyielding desire to restore balance. Each strike with the staff not only delivers devastating blows but also cleanses enemies of their power, leaving them vulnerable to divine retribution.
In battle, the Vindicator serves as a beacon of hope. When a foe falls, the Vindicator extends protection to those around them, empowering allies with a divine shield that can withstand even the most vicious of attacks. This celestial guardian's presence is a reminder that no darkness, no matter how great, can ever completely snuff out the light.
Radiant Vindicator in the Meta ⚔️
The Radiant Vindicator is a high mana card that focuses on dealing a lot of damage into the backline. Since Scattershot is very unreliable so its the Vindicator but Dispel will deal with any buffed characters in the back as well. While it lacks armor, its high health and powerful magical attack make it a durable threat in battle. The Beacon of Protection ability is especially strong, offering defensive value for your team by granting Divine Shield to key allies. Positioning would be very important for this card.
This card excels in matches with a high amount of mana is available. The damage of the card is high enough to avoid taunts and kill some units in the backline. Its ability to clear enemy buffs and protect allies makes it a valuable addition to many Life splinter teams, adding both offense and defense to guild brawls. 🌟🛡️
🐉 Twilight Serpent
Set: Dominion
Splinter: Dragon ✨
Rarity: Epic
Mana Cost: 4
Card Stats
- Attack: 4 (Magic) ✨
- Health: 6 ❤️
- Speed: 4 💨
- Armor: 0 🛡️
Abilities
- Swiftness: All friendly Monsters have increased Speed.
- Immunity: This monster is immune to negative status effects.
- Draconic Surge: Effect: When a Dragon Domineer slays an enemy, all allied dragons receive +1 to their attack, magic, or ranged stat only if the unit already had any of those stats.
Lore 📜
Born from the cosmic void, the Twilight Serpent hails from distant realms beyond the Splinterlands, an ancient force that traversed the stars to arrive at the war-torn lands. With scales that shimmer like the night sky, combining shades of deep blue and glimmering gold, this creature embodies the mystery of both light and darkness. It is said that the Twilight Serpent was once a guardian of a long-forgotten celestial empire, brought to life through the power of the stars themselves.
Eons ago, this dragon traveled across galaxies, moving between worlds, until it found its way to the Splinterlands. There, it found purpose once more, wielding the elemental power of the cosmos. The serpent embodies its allies with speed unlike that of any terrestrial creature, the serpent strikes like a shooting star, weaving through the battlefield, and empowering its allies with every battle it fights.
Its connection to the cosmos grants the Twilight Serpent a deep understanding of the balance between creation and destruction. The fiery trails it leaves in its wake are not born from mere fury, but the energy of ancient stars, a blend of light and dark magic that fuels its every move. It acts as both protector and avenger for the dragon kin, amplifying the strength of its allies while guiding them with its stellar might.
Though not the largest of dragons, the Twilight Serpent’s celestial origins and its ethereal powers make it a formidable presence in any conflict. When it fights alongside other dragons, the serpent strengthens them with cosmic energy, ensuring victory for those who wield it.
Twilight Serpent in the Meta ⚔️
The Twilight Serpent is a versatile low-mana card that shines in quick, high-speed matchups or in formats with limited mana. Its Swiftness ability can be a game-changer, especially in combination with other high-speed monsters. This makes it ideal for Little League or lower-mana rulesets.
Its Immunity ability is a great advantage in poison rulesets or any scenario where the enemy has debuffs or negative status effects, giving this card an edge over enemy teams focused on control. The Draconic Surge ability is a fantastic team booster, and in battles with other dragon allies, the Twilight Serpent will shine as a support character, increasing the power of other dragons in its ranks.
As an Epic card, its moderate cost and versatile abilities make it an excellent fit in many strategies, from fast-paced attacks to well-coordinated dragon squads. With its magic attack and potential to buff other dragons, it's an asset in both offensive and support roles. 🐉✨
Conclusion 🏆
The Dominion Challenge has been an incredible journey of creativity, strategy, and design. From the Twilight Serpent of the Dragon Splinter to the Radiant Vindicator of the Life Splinter, and the deadly Midnight Shogun from the Death Splinter, each card we've created has brought its own unique flavor and tactical edge to the table.
This challenge was a great opportunity to explore new concepts, abilities, and lore while also learning the delicate art of balancing card power. As we’ve discovered, creating cards that are both fun and fair is no easy task. Some of our ideas were far too powerful in their current form, reminding us how important it is to find that sweet spot between strength and fairness. But despite the challenge, the process was incredibly rewarding, and it sparked a lot of fun and excitement in our creative minds. 🎨✨
This experience has shown us just how much potential there is in moving on from the Gladius set and expanding to others like the Dominion set and how every new design adds layers of depth to the Splinterlands universe. Balancing creativity with gameplay mechanics was a learning curve, but that’s what makes the process of card creation so thrilling.
So, as we wrap up this challenge, I encourage you all to continue pushing the boundaries of your creativity. The Dominion set is just the beginning, and with every new challenge, we can look forward to more exciting and powerful Domineers joining the fray! 💥🔥
What will your next card look like? Keep creating, and join the fun of the Dominion Challenge! 💪🌌🛡️
