Splinterlands: Mantaroth's Armored Strike is useful in Melee Mayhem

in Splinterlands16 hours ago

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Thaddius Brood as my summoner.

Featured cards

Mantaroth is a neutral monster that costs 11 mana. It starts with shield and armored strike. It leanrs true strike at level 2, repair at level 3, and blast at level 4. I have this card at level 1, but the additional abilities when leveled seem so powerful.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Ferocity, Armored Up, and Melee Myahem. This means that all monsters gain 2 armor, melee monsters can attack from anywhere, and all monsters gain the fury ability. There is also 32 mana and I can choose earth or deathsplinter.

I use Thaddius Brood as my summoner because it reduces health by 1 and its my highest level summoner. Cursed Windeku is my tank due to thorns and heal. Then I have Mantaroth as my backup tank and as a damage dealer. I have Uraeus with poison and sneak. Then I have two ranged monster, one with protect and inspire and the other with shatter. My last monster is Harklaw with sheild, demoralize, and immunity.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My opponent has two demoralize monsters and it will be tough to kill off my opponent's tank. If I can't take it out fast enough, I don't think the rest of my lineup will survive. Due to the demoralize, the highest damage monster on my side is Mantaroth against that tank due to protect.

Round 5

round 5.png
I fast-forwarded to round 5 because I was trading blows. I was able to kill off two monsters, but most of my lineup is dead. Uraeus was able to poison the last monster before dying to thorns, but at least things were evened out. At this point, I think I should win because my opponent won't kill any of my monsters this round but I will be ablet o deal quite a bit of damage.

I ended up winning this match a few rounds later because Mantaroth managed to tank the remaining hits.

Conclusion

The battle this time did not play out as expected. I wasn't expecting to fight aginst a double demoralize and my opponent's summoner made it even harder to land attacks. In the end, I was lucky that Mantaroth didn't miss and I was able to take out my opponent's Harklaw early. This allowed my backup tank Mantaroth to survive and deal enough damage against my opponent. It was a close match though.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

The good thing about Mantaroth is that it is a very durable card and gives your attackers time to do the work.

i don't own that card, but always looks scary to face, it's strong

Putting the card with the demoralize at the back was really good. Plus you had that card that gave other cards the inspire ability. I think it was a close game, you just had the better management strategy.
