Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Beating Arachne Weaver's heals using Goblin Psychic's Affliction

in Splinterlands8 hours ago

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of Goblin Psychic.

Featured cards

Goblin Psychic is a earth monster that costs 6 mana. It starts with tank heal. It learns affliction at level 2, silence at level 3, and dispel at level 4. I have this card at level 5 so it has affliction, and I use this card from time to time for the heals.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Equalizer, High Five, and Blood and Sunder. This means that all monsters have the same health, up to 5 monsters can be used, and all monsters gain the corrosive ward ability. There is also 45 mana available and I can choose fire, earth, death, or dragon splinter.

I use Immortalis as my summoner for the -1 health, void, and shatter ability. Pelacor Mercenary is my tank with flying. Then I have a backup tank Regal Peryton with flying as well. My 3rd monster is a duo magic and ranged monster. Then I have Goblin Psychic as my healer and Supply Runner for the swiftness.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My opponent has Arachne Weaver with corrupted healing that heals 70% of a monster's health. At the same time, my magic damage is reduced due to his summoner. So it will be tough to kill my opponent's tank unless I land affliction.

Round 4

I fast-forwarded to round 4 because I was trading blows. I was able to kill off the tank but I also lost my tank. I do have affliction on the 2nd monster so it doesn't seem as bad for me. It's just a battle of endurance and whether or not my affliction lands on that 3rd monster with corrupted healing. If I can kill off that monster, then this match is over.

I ended up winning this match a few rounds later because I was able to land affliction on that healer. After that monster died, it was an easy battle due to my healer.

Conclusion

The battle this time did not play out as expected. Although I had Goblin Psychic, I put it in there for the heal rather than the affliction. However, that affliction was what let me win. I was not expected a corrupted healer there because that tank with shield was hard to beat. It had high health and my magic damage was reduced by my opponent's summoner. Once affliction landed, I was able to kill off that monster and win the match.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

You had the better cards and the summoner, with the addition of that void magic, the opponents arcane Weaver couldn't really do much. But great strikes, and equalizers Rulesets are always fun.
