Splinterlands - Long Live the Devourer of Existence

The Challenge

For this week's Splinterlands Share your Battle Challenge, Dragons are to be featured in combination with any of the Splinters.

The Chosen One

Chaos Dragon is a Legendary Chaos Legion card, which has the Flying and the Scattershot ability at level 1, Blast at Level 2, and then Blind at Level 3. At max Level 4, it has 4 Magic Attack and 10 Health, more than enough to cause havoc and pandemonium.

Excerpt from the lore:

As it flew through the spinning vortex, the Chaos Dragon let forth a violent shriek, so loud that it was felt in the far reaches of every Splinter. The people of Praetoria fell to their knees, terror taking the strength from their legs and the courage from their hearts. For an army of monsters can be fought, the land defended with righteous fervor. But when even the invading hordes are fleeing before such a beast, what hope can there be? The answer is none when the eater of worlds has arrived, the true devourer of existence.

Fight to the Death with @Icyflow

  • Splinters allowed: All Splinters
  • Rulesets: Super Sneak and Earthquake
  • Mana Cap: 42
  • Line Up: Dragon + Life
  • Battle Replay: Watch in Splinterlands

Delwyn Dragonscale, the only Common Summoner which provides +1 Magic attack, is extremely useful in my line up as most of them have Magic attack. It was my intention to destroy the enemy's monsters even before I feel the Earthquake's damages.

Two (2) Melee damage caused by the Earthquake usually warrants monsters with Flying abilities but, in this battle, I opted for only one card with this ability, the Chaos Dragon, and then shielded the rest with armor through Defender of Truth's Protect ability.

Considering the Super Sneak rule set, I thought it'd be best to put Chaos Dragon at the back so any non-Flying melee will most likely miss (Flying + Blind) and, most importantly, for me to make the most out of his Scattershot and Blast ability. Of course, melee monsters won't be able to perform a sneak attack on Dr. Blight due to his Camouflage ability.

Lord Arianthus is an unstoppable tank, fortified by Defender of Truth's armor and fully supported by High Priest's Resurrection and high damage attack.

Round 1

In the first round, Mycelic Slipspawn received most of the damages and was eventually taken down, but three of my enemy's monsters were badly hurt by Chaos Dragon's Scattershot and Blast, ignoring Mycelic's taunt.

In addition, Hill Giant's sneak attack missed so it was only Lord Arianthus, my ever-reliable tank, who had his health decreased by the attacks.

Round 2

The round started with the Hill Giant dying due to the Earthquake. Lord Arianthus received a fatal attack from Regal Peryton, but High Priest Darius was around and initiated the resurrection. Not only was he revived with 1 Health but he received two (2) fresh armors from Defender of Truth.

Chaos Dragon went on another rampage, killing both Regal Peyton and Biceratops!

By the end of the round, only Kron the Undying lives.

Round 3

The Defender of Truth hit Kron with 3 damage and Chaos Dragon delivered the final blow.

Takeaway

Dragons are highly reliable in high mana cap battles and strategically flexible since you can pair them with any Splinter and these make them one of my favorites (along with Life, Earth, and Water).

With less than 10 DEC rental for a Level 3 Chaos Dragon or purchasing a maxed out one for ~$131.00, it's worth having for Flying ruleset and whenever you feel like being stubborn (and don't want to snipe or get taunted!).
