6 Years Of Greatness!! Long Live Splinterlands!!

Never thought that Splinterlands has been live up to 6 years today. I'm a little bit late joining Splinterlands which is on late 2021, and for about a year, I just passively play the game. I remember at that time there's only Alpha, Beta, and Untamed editions on circulation. And even with such collection its already a very rich game to play with. Rewards was limited to only single daily rewards, there are no end of season reward. And the rewards are simply attained by having 5 (five) victories using certain determined Splinter faction. It's a time where rewards are very scarce to get.

Previously I've made a post which share my recen journey in the Splinterlands (you could find the post here). So I'm just gonna fill a few details which I haven't disclose previously and update on my recent gameplay during this year. Its been May 2024 where a lot of changes has take places. Chages whether gradual or major revamp has all been done professionally which make the game experience become more intresting. Splinterlands isn't just a gaming expirience like any other conventional video game. The hours spent on this game is a self development; I didn't only find entertainment, but also to building private collection, learning the economic of the game, and contributing towards community. And even after 4 years engaging in Splinterlands, I knew I still have a lot to learn.

Discovery of Splinterlands

I've told that I joined Splinterlands on 2021. It's not easy to commit to a new game when you are unsure of what it promises. And its more difficult if you find it by yourself rather than from referral of someone you know. I think Splinterlands is not just about gaming, the economic aspect of the Splinterlands make the greater part of the game. And for a newcomers like myself, even the amount of game system and information at that time is quite overwhelming. You just barely learn the gameplay, and then you got a wholesome homework to study the available collection.

Just when I surfing the forum to find post about the game itself, I already got bombed by a very complicated commentary about the economics and policy of the game system. It take a quite commitment of time to study each aspect of this game. And I don't think its suit those faint-hearted and looking for streamline gaming. This is a double-edged sword, because we could have only committed players which could contribute to the community to join the game; but this could also discourage newcomers from joining and reduce the game popularity.

Duration of Participation

Right now I have actively participate for almost 1,5 years. Its still a short term compared to how long Splinterlands has exist. But I felt proud of the achievement I gained during the time. I managed to develop my collection points from only 10k to beyond 200k. What motivates me even more is my goal to expand my collection even more especially on the Epic and Legendary cards.

Time Spent in Splinterlands

Between battling, brawling, and writing articles; I currently focused more on battling due to the new rating and rewards system. The new system just make it easier for players to rise up in rank, and the glints rewards allow players to flexibly collect rewards. I think this is a major revamp which break the boundaries between league and give better self-rewards toward active players.
Other than that, this year I tried to participate in more events events held by Splinterlands (for example the Baron's Bounty event).

Upcoming Goals

The current glints reward system has affected the playstyle very much. While previously we have to prudent on spending energy for battle each days (because the cost for successive rewards will keep rising), we are now have more flexibility to do battle at any time, while gaining the equal amount of glints rewards.

The new Rarity Draws also looks very intresting as now we could claim for cards with certain rarity. This allow players to have more balanced collection by purchasing certain rarity which are sort in bcx quantity. Although I still have certain concern that this might disrupt the normal quantity distribution between Normal-Rare-Epic-Legendary. If most players would wish to spent on Legendary Draw, this might dilute the number of Legendary cards and thus depress down their price.

Currenlty with a rate of beyond 100k glints gained per season, I'm putting myself to purchase The Proven title within the next 7 season. Its a limited item which currently are left to 406 title remaining.

Advice for Beginners

I think the new system are very supportive towards new players. The fixed rating system now allows new players to grow their rating easier without limited by certian leagues or certain cards levels. And the new glints reward system also allows new players with limited staked SPS to accumulate rewards gradually without having obligation to attain certain threshold.
