Rather than restrict the ordinary battle rules, Melee Mayhem open loosen the rules by allowing melee cards to attack from position other than front row. It does meant a lot because now a complete melee cards formation could deliver their full damage without need for Reach, Opportunity, or Sneak. But one thing to remember, the attack will only be directed toward the front row; which means they will be prone to being trapped by card with Shield or Thorns ability.
